Catherine O’Hara<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s career was anything but boring, lethargic or dripping with ennui.<\/span><\/p>\n

Nearly three weeks before the actress died at age 71<\/a>, she <\/span>earned a<\/span> nomination <\/span>for<\/span> Best Supporting Female Actor on Television for <\/span>The Studio <\/span>at the 2026 Golden Globes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Although Catherine wasn’t in attendance at the Jan. 11 <\/span>ceremony<\/span>, her eccentric <\/span>turn<\/span>as former studio head Patty Leigh in the <\/span>Seth Rogen<\/strong><\/a>–<\/a>created TV show was unforgettable. <\/span>But to sign on, she needed some convincing from Seth and needed some convincing <\/span>Evan Goldberg<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

“They made it sound like it was going to be so good and so fun and so informative,” she told <\/span>Forbes<\/span><\/a> in March 2025. “They describe great characters. Then, the scripts came in and they were great\u2014really funny. I’ve never played, I don’t think, someone like this in this kind of power position, who loses it right away.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Patty may have felt out of her wheelhouse, but the <\/span>Home Alone<\/span> actress has always been up for a challenge. Since making her onscreen debut <\/span>in 1975’s <\/span>Wayne and Shuster<\/span>, Catherine <\/span>starred <\/span>in more than 120 projects<\/span>, like <\/span>Beetlejuice<\/span>, <\/span>Best in Show<\/span> and <\/span>Home Alone<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
