Catherine O\u2019Hara<\/a>, a gifted comedic actress and two-time Emmy winner, has died.<\/p>\n

O\u2019Hara died Friday at her home in Los Angeles after a brief illness, her reps at CAA<\/a> confirmed. She was 71.<\/p>\n

A native of Toronto, O\u2019Hara was part of the Sctv ensemble that also helped launch the careers of John Candy<\/a>, Eugene Levy<\/a>, Rick Moranis<\/a> and others. She\u2019s arguably best known for playing Kevin\u2019s (Macaulay Culkin<\/a>) mother, Kate, in the Home Alone<\/a> movies and had a career renaissance in the past 10 years with Schitt\u2019s Creek<\/a> \u2014 winning an Emmy for her role as a faded soap opera actress opposite old friend Levy \u2014 and The Studio<\/a>, for which she earned an Emmy nomination last year.<\/p>\n

She won an Emmy in 2020 for playing Moira Rose in Schitt\u2019s Creek<\/a>. She also earned an Emmy for her work on Sctv Network in 1982 and was nominated eight other times for acting and writing awards.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
