Iranian auteur Mohammad Rasoulof<\/a>\u2019s new work \u201cSense of Water\u201d \u2013 which is the dissident director\u2019s first film since \u201cThe Seed of the Sacred Fig<\/a>\u201d \u2013 has been picked up for global distribution by French sales company Films Boutique<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The 39-minute \u201cSense of Water\u201d short, which is premiering at the International Film Festival Rotterdam, also marks the first film Rasoulof has shot outside Iran. It reflects his personal journey since escaping to Germany in May 2024 after receiving a jail and flogging sentence from Iranian authorities for making \u201cSacred Fig,\u201d which won the Special Jury prize at Cannes.<\/p>\n

In \u201cSense of Water,\u201d an Iranian writer living in exile, retreats with his former lover, Nazanin<\/a>, to a glass cabin \u201cin the northernmost reaches of the world,\u201d as the synopsis puts it.<\/p>\n
