Bruce Springsteen<\/a> gave his anti-ICE protest song \u2018Streets Of Minneapolis\u2019 a live debut during a surprise appearance at a benefit show hosted by Tom Morello<\/a> \u2013 check out footage below.<\/p>\n On Friday (January 30), a benefit gig organised by Rage Against The Machine\u2019s Morello promised Minnesota locals a show of \u201csolidarity and resistance\u201d<\/a> in the wake of the deaths of Renee Good and Alex Pretti, who were both shot and killed by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents on separate occasions in recent weeks.<\/p>\n Good, aged 37, was fatally shot by ICE agent Jonathan Ross in Minneapolis on January 7, while Pretti, also aged 37, was killed on January 24 \u2013 with both incidents taking place less than a mile apart. Pretti was shot 10 times in five seconds by an ICE officer. Both Good and Pretti were US citizens, and the latter had been involved in the protests unfolding in the wake of Good\u2019s death.<\/p>\n The show at the First Avenue club was conceived to raise money for the families of both, and, towards the end of the charity event, Springsteen was brought out as a surprise guest. The United States \u2013 the ideals and the values for which it stood for the past 250 years \u2013 is being tested as it\u2019s never been in modern times,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n ICE has described its highly controversial actions in Minnesota as \u201cthe largest mass deportation operation in American history\u201d. The deaths of Good and Pretti have triggered outrage and widespread protests across the US.<\/p>\n Over the summer, Morello \u2013 a longtime critic of the US President<\/a> \u2013\u00a0shared a \u201cFuck ICE\u201d playlist<\/a>, and was one of the many figures from the entertainment world\u00a0who attended the anti-ICE protests<\/a>\u00a0last year.<\/p>\n Elsewhere,\u00a0Billie Eilish has urged her \u201cfellow celebrities\u201d to \u201cspeak up\u201d against ICE\u2019s actions<\/a>. Her brother and collaborator,\u00a0Finneas<\/a>, called out conservatives\u2019 hypocritical gun law arguments in their attempts to justify the fatal shooting of Pretti, a 37-year-old nurse.<\/p>\n Eilish criticised ICE earlier this month<\/a>\u00a0in the wake of an ICE agent in Minneapolis killing Good.<\/p>\n Other artists and celebrities to have spoken out include\u00a0Sabrina Carpenter<\/a>,\u00a0Green Day<\/a>,\u00a0Neil Young<\/a>,\u00a0Moby<\/a>,\u00a0Zara Larsson<\/a>,\u00a0musician and\u00a0Stranger Things<\/em>\u00a0star Joe Keery<\/a>,\u00a0Spider-Man<\/em>\u00a0actor Yuri Lowenthal<\/a>,\u00a0Duran Duran, Dave Matthews and more<\/a>.<\/p>\n Tom Morello will play a one-off headline show in London this summer as part of a wider European tour.
