Charli XCX lived out every film lover\u2019s dream as the singer entered the Criterion Collection\u2019s closet to spotlight some of her favorite movies.<\/p>\n
The Moment<\/a><\/em> star \u2014 an avid cinephile with a frequently updated Letterboxd account<\/a> \u2014 entered the Criterion Closet with tote bag in hand to pick out a handful of cinematic classics, beginning with Jacques Rivette\u2019s Celine and Julie Go Boating<\/em>.<\/p>\n More from Rolling Stone<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cThis was kind of the first, actually the second film that I saw that truly, truly blew my mind,\u201d Charli XCX said of the 1974 French film. \u201cKind of left me jaw on the floor. The first was 2001<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n Charli XCX, a self-proclaimed \u201cbig [David] Cronenberg stan,\u201d next selected the Canadian filmmaker\u2019s most recent movie The Shrouds<\/a><\/em>. \u201cI was on tour when I saw this film. I kind of like to watch films to escape how repetitive life on the road is,\u201d the singer said, adding that while she was \u201cconfused\u201d by The Shrouds after her first viewing, she \u201chaven\u2019t been able to stop thinking about it.\u201d<\/p>\n Her third pick was Michelangelo Antonioni\u2019s 1961 drama La Notte<\/em>, which she fittingly watched while honeymooning near Sicily, and topped off her bag with Ingmar Bergman\u2019s Autumn Sonata<\/em>.<\/p>\n \u201cI have an affinity for a lot of Swedish things, whether that be Robyn and Yung Lean, whether that be the little red Swedish fish candy, or whether that be Bergman,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n Charli XCX\u2019s love of movies brought the singer to the big screen and specifically to this year\u2019s Sundance Film Festival, as she appeared in three movies that premiered at the fest<\/a>: Her own The Moment<\/em>, I Want Your Sex<\/em>, and The Gallerist<\/em>.<\/p>\n Best of Rolling Stone<\/strong><\/p>\n Sign up for RollingStone’s Newsletter<\/a>.
