Lauren Retica<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">When the couple later showed the photo to Sanders\u2019 mother, she was equally stunned and recalled how she had once hunted high and low for that costume after seeing Retica in the ad in 1999.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cWe were so shocked and a bit emotional,\u201d Retica shares. \u201cIt&#8217;s such an exciting thing to discover and feels like a special level of connection we didn&#8217;t know we had.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">What\u2019s even more surprising is that Retica\u2019s mom always described her as a &#8220;tomboy&#8221; who hated dresses \u2013 but for this shoot, the toddler miraculously didn\u2019t refuse.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cMuch to my mother&#8217;s surprise, I apparently hopped straight into the dress with no fuss, something I had never done before,\u201d Retica shares.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">It\u2019s moments like these that made her and Sanders believe in the &#8220;invisible string&#8221; theory \u2013 the idea that some connections or moments in life are quietly guided by fate, linking people or events in ways that just feel meant to be.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Nearly 17 years after both girls donned that fairy costume, they met on Tinder and have been &#8220;inseparable\u201d ever since.
