\n\tLyrically it addresses an abusive relationship, with Martinez singing in the chorus: \u201cBaby, I\u2019m your possession, handle me like a weapon\/ Gaslight me right, tell me, \u2018Keep quiet\u2019\/ I\u2019ll go along, di-di-dum\/ Put me up like a prize, I\u2019ll be a good housewife\/ You won\u2019t see me cry when women come by.\u201d<\/p>\n
\n\t\u201cPOSSESSION\u201d \u2014 the first taste of an upcoming new LP from Martinez \u2014 follows her 2023 album Portals<\/em>, which spent two weeks at No. 1 on the Top Rock & Alternative Albums chart and reached No. 2 on the all-genre Billboard 200. <\/p>\n\n\t2024 brought an arena tour for Martinez, The Trilogy Tour, and a set at Lollapalooza.<\/p>\n
\n\tAmong the new releases trailing behind \u201cPOSSESSION\u201d are Springsteen\u2019s \u201cStreets of Minneapolis,\u201d with 8% of the vote; Cannons\u2019 \u201cStarlight,\u201d with 6% of the vote, and Noah Kahan\u2019s \u201cThe Great Divide,\u201d with 3% of the vote.<\/p>\n
