The mother of Savannah Guthrie, co-anchor of NBC’s “TODAY” show<\/a>, has been reported missing in Arizona<\/a>, officials said Sunday.<\/p>\n

Nancy Guthrie, 84, was last seen Saturday night in her home outside Tucson, according to a missing persons flyer. She was reported missing by her family around noon Sunday, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said.<\/p>\n

Nanos told reporters that aspects of the scene at the home caused “grave concern.” <\/p>\n

\u201cThis one stood out because of what was described to us at the scene and what we found and located just in looking at the scene,\u201d Nanos said.<\/p>\n

He did not elaborate on what evidence at the home caused such concern. <\/p>\n

Homicide detectives were called out to process the scene, Nanos said. Their involvement is not standard protocol, and foul play cannot be ruled out, he said. <\/p>\n

\u201cThere are some things there that are concerning to us, we just don\u2019t want to miss anything,\u201d Nanos told NBC affiliate KVOA<\/a> in Tucson.<\/p>\n

The Guthrie family said in a statement: \u201cWe can confirm this is a missing persons case, and the family is working closely with local law enforcement.\u201d <\/p>\n

Nancy Guthrie is described as 5 feet, 5 inches tall, weighing 150 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. Her family last saw her at home around 9:30 p.m. to 9:45 p.m. Saturday, Nanos said.<\/p>\n

“Miss Guthrie is 84 years old and is not in good physical health,” the sheriff said, but noted her family reported no cognitive issues.<\/p>\n

Drones, an airplane, a helicopter, volunteers and search-and-rescue dogs loaned from Customs and Border Protection were all scouring the area for Guthrie, Nanos said.<\/p>\n

Nanos encouraged anyone who has any information to call the sheriff\u2019s department. <\/p>\n

In their statement, the Guthrie family expressed gratitude for “the outreach, thoughts and prayers” and also asked for anyone with information to contact authorities. <\/p>\n

Savannah Guthrie has frequently discussed her close relationship with her mother over the years. <\/p>\n

\u201cShe loves us, her family, fiercely, and her selflessness and sacrifice for us, her steadfastness and her unmovable confidence is the reason any of us grew up to do anything,” she said in a 2022 tribute <\/a>to her mother on her 80th birthday. <\/p>\n
