Local law enforcement is speaking out after Savannah Guthrie<\/strong><\/a>\u2018s mom, Nancy Guthrie<\/strong>, was reported missing in Arizona<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos<\/strong> addressed reporters during a news conference on Sunday, February 1, after the 84-year-old was reported missing earlier that afternoon.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is very concerning to us. We don\u2019t typically get the sheriff out at a scene like this. But it\u2019s very concerning what we\u2019re learning from the house,\u201d Nanos said. \u201cAnd so we\u2019ll just continue. The detective\u2019s homicide team is out right now looking at the scene as well.\u201d<\/p>\n

Asked whether foul play was suspected, Nanos said that he was \u201cnot ruling it out.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tAs upbeat as she may seem on TV, Savannah Guthrie knows what it\u2019s like to deal with loss. Alongside her incredible success as the cohost of Today, the television journalist has also had her fair share of hardships throughout the years. Guthrie \u2014 who shares daughter Vale and son Charley, named after her father, with [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The sheriff further noted that there were \u201csome concerns\u201d about what was found at Nancy\u2019s home, which prompted authorities to call in search and rescue and criminal investigation teams. Volunteers on the ground are helping to search, with drones, dogs and a helicopter also deployed.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve pretty much just thrown everything at this that we can,\u201d Nanos added. \u201c[Nancy] is 84 years old and is not of good physical health, and so naturally that\u2019s a great concern.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Nanos pointed out that Nancy has a \u201csound mind,\u201d there may be other limitations with her physical mobility. \u201cWe\u2019ll be at this all night, processing the house,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

A family member reportedly called 911 around 12 p.m. on Sunday to report Nancy missing. Savannah, 54, was noticeably absent from the Today<\/em> show<\/a> on Monday, February 2, as news continued to emerge about her family.<\/p>\n

Sheinelle Jones<\/strong> instead joined Craig Melvin<\/strong>, with the duo immediately addressing the \u201cdeeply personal story\u201d during Monday\u2019s broadcast. The pair read a statement from Savannah addressing her family\u2019s situation.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn behalf of our family, I want to thank everyone for the thoughts, prayers and messages of support. Right now, our focus remains on the safe return of our dear mom,\u201d the statement read. \u201cWe thank law enforcement for their hard work on this case and encourage anyone with information to contact the Pima County Sheriff\u2019s Department at 520-351-4900.\u201d<\/p>\n

Savannah has frequently praised her mom<\/a>, who even appeared as a guest star on a November 2025 episode of the Today show when the journalist returned to her hometown. Several months prior, Savannah shared a sweet throwback photo of herself and Nancy in honor of Mother\u2019s Day.<\/p>\n

\u201cI love you, mama,\u201d Savannah captioned the post in May 2025.<\/p>\n
