Authorities have shared more information<\/a> about the disappearance of Savannah Guthrie<\/strong><\/a>\u2018s mom, Nancy Guthrie<\/strong><\/a>, including how the Today<\/em><\/a> show star\u2019s own safety might be affected.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think there\u2019s an active threat [to the public],\u201d Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos<\/strong> told reporters in a press conference on Monday, February 2. \u201cWe\u2019re going to canvass that neighborhood, maybe there\u2019s a prowler [that\u2019s] been seen around. There\u2019s a lot of work still to do. We don\u2019t have any indication that the public is still in danger.\u201d<\/p>\n

When asked whether Savannah, 54, has been threatened at all after her mother was reported missing<\/a>, Nanos confirmed law enforcement has spoken to her.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe has a security team that\u2019s been in touch with us throughout the night. We\u2019re not gonna dismiss any angles for sure, but right now, immediately, we don\u2019t know of anything like that,\u201d he added, noting that Savannah is in Arizona.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tSavannah Guthrie\u2019s Today cohosts are thinking about her family as her mom, Nancy Guthrie, has been reported missing. During the Monday, February 2, broadcast, Sheinelle Jones and Craig Melvin introduced the \u201cdeeply personal story\u201d and shared a statement from Savannah, 54, and her family. \u201cOn behalf of our family, I want to thank everyone for [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

News broke on Sunday, February 1, that a family member called 911<\/a> to report Nancy, 84, as missing. She was last seen on Saturday, January 31. Panos emphasized during Monday\u2019s news conference that Nancy is \u201cas sharp as a tack\u201d when it comes to her mental awareness but has physical limitations due to age.<\/p>\n

Panos also noted that search and rescue efforts have been put on pause as authorities instead begin to investigate the incident as a crime.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll of the family has been very cooperative with us. They\u2019re working with us, they\u2019re staying in touch with us. They have complete access to anybody in this department,\u201d the sheriff said. \u201cOur hearts go out to them. This is their mom.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to Panos, it\u2019s unlikely Nancy left her home on her own accord. \u201cShe is mobile, it\u2019s just a challenge for her,\u201d Panos explained. \u201cShe couldn\u2019t walk 50 yards by herself.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is an 84-year-old lady who suffers from some physical ailments, has some physical ailments, is in need of medication,\u201d he added. \u201cMedication that if she doesn\u2019t have in 24 hours, it could be fatal. So we make a plea to anyone that knows anyone about this \u2014 who has seen something, heard something \u2014 to contact us. Call 911. We don\u2019t need another bad, tragic ending. We need some help.\u201d<\/p>\n
