I realised that music was the connection to my dad,\u201d the frontman said. \u201cAnd the fan reaction has been humbling\u2026 sometimes a song just has its time.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"jeg_video_container jeg_video_content\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"The Kooks - See Me Now (Live At The O2 Arena, London)\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/pKtpDFmwyL4?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>He then added that he began to reconnect with the song after his mum \u201cdropped off a load of tapes of me and my dad that I\u2019d never seen\u201d, and he realised how much his father\u2019s limited presence helped shaped his life.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was like a time capsule experience,\u201d he continued. \u201cThere are videos of him literally teaching me to use a microphone, play guitar, pose like a rock star, all when I was three. It unlocked a lot of memories. I was so young, I hadn\u2019t realised it happened.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Discussing why it was the performance from The O2 that was chosen for the live recording, Prichard shared that the set felt like \u201ca particularly special performance\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI didn\u2019t actually think I would be able to finish the song. My mum and sister were in the audience. I just thought how much this would blow his mind \u2013 that I played the song to that many people in London,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd then all the stories from other people started coming into us. When I grew up I didn\u2019t know many people that had lost a parent so young. I feel like he\u2019s a bit of a teacher actually. You\u2019re never going to complete making records, there\u2019s always more to learn.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery lyric is considered, it\u2019s very good to be pushed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The new announcements from The Kooks comes following the frontman recently <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/the-kooks-luke-pritchard-on-sharing-debut-album-20th-anniversary-with-arctic-monkeys-3925470\">looking back at how the band shares the same debut album anniversary as Arctic Monkeys<\/a>, and retracing their past rivalry.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s funny now with the lens. It\u2019s quite a similar scene, but I felt like we were so different. Like, at the time we were in such a different kind of space,\u201d he shared. \u201cTo me, it was almost like they were doing, like, rap music\u2026 it was very tough and almost industrial.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Before then, <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/the-kooks-interview-new-album-never-know-luke-pritchard-tiktok-3833349\"><em>NME<\/em> spoke to the band about their latest album, and they opened up about seeing a resurgence in popularity with a younger generation<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou talk about DNA \u2013 we still have that coming-of-age feel when we play music. We still have it,\u201d Pritchard said. \u201cHopefully, it\u2019s just because we\u2019re keeping fresh, we\u2019re evolving, and we\u2019re quite open to new things.
