David Yarnell<\/a>, the producer of the critically acclaimed film \u201cCan You Ever Forgive Me?<\/a>,\u201d died Jan. 28 in his home in Los Angeles. He was 96.<\/p>\n

Yarnell is known for his work on Fox Searchlight<\/a>\u2019s \u201cCan You Ever Forgive Me?<\/a>\u201d Released in 2018, the film starred Melissa McCarthy<\/a> and Richard E. Grant<\/a> and was based on the memoir by Lee Israel<\/a>. Yarnell optioned the book rights 20 years before the film was made, building a friendship with Israel<\/a> that was instrumental to the film\u2019s success. McCarthy<\/a> and Grant both earned Oscar nominations for their performances.<\/p>\n

Yarnell also produced and directed TNT<\/a>\u2019s \u201cJoe Bob Briggs\u201d for 11 years, earning an Emmy nomination for his work. His other credits include the CBS<\/a> movie \u201cDeep in My Heart<\/a>,\u201d for which Anne Bancroft<\/a> won a Primetime Emmy Award, and \u201cIn Concert\u201d for ABC, which featured acts such as The Rolling Stones<\/a>, Queen<\/a> and Black Sabbath<\/a>.
