The mother of \u201cToday\u201d show host Savannah Guthrie<\/a> is missing in Arizona, and law enforcement made concerning statements<\/a> about her well-being.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Authorities said Monday they were treating the 84-year-old\u2019s disappearance<\/a> as a crime.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI hope we find her safe and sound, but we can\u2019t ignore what\u2019s in front of us,\u201d Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said of Nancy Guthrie after authorities encountered aspects of \u201cgrave concern\u201d in a search of her home near Tucson.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Nanos, citing her family, said Guthrie has \u201cphysical ailments\u201d that limit her mobility but is cognitively sound.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

She has been missing since Saturday and was last seen at her residence that night, according to a missing persons flyer<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Nanos said she may have been exposed to cold weather overnight. Airplanes, drones, and helicopters are being used in the search.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

A law enforcement visit to Nancy Guthrie\u2019s home appeared to elevate the urgency.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cWe get these calls quite often, and we do a good job of searching the area,\u201d Nanos said. \u201cBut this one stood out because of what was described to us at the scene and what we found just in looking at the scene.\u201d He declined to elaborate.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The woman\u2019s disappearance was the top news on the \u201cToday\u201d show Monday. Host Craig Melvin told viewers it is a \u201cdeeply personal story for us.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cOur focus remains on the safe return of our dear mom,\u201d an absent Savannah Guthrie said in a statement read on the NBC morning program.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

A spokesperson for \u201cToday\u201d told celebrity.land earlier on Monday that the Guthrie family is \u201cworking closely\u201d with authorities and urged anyone with information to reach out to the Pima County Sheriff\u2019s Department. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cThe family is grateful for the outreach, thoughts and prayers,\u201d the spokesperson wrote in an email.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
