Gagnon is a philosophy major at the University of Alberta, where Konstant also studies education. The project was originally started by Konstant, the name Fille-Fille being a shortening of her first name. Each member highlighted the other. \u201c[Mayflower\u2019s] bass is so melodic and tells such a story, and [Gagnon\u2019s] drumming is the craziest, most passionate drumming I\u2019ve ever heard. It\u2019s like John Bonham is always in the room,\u201d Konstant said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Gagnon said that everything with the band\u2019s chemistry is based on feel. \u201cWhat we\u2019re trying to cultivate is a group telepathy,\u201d Mayflower said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u201cI wanted to take a new spin on morality that\u2019s more empowering,\u201d Konstant says<\/h2>\n<p>While they currently only have one release out, Konstant said the band is actually gearing up to release a two-track single. And after that, they\u2019re set to release two more songs to follow up. One of the releases, which they played during their set at Dive Bar, is called \u201cQuick Rip.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The song is a sequel to <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/artist\/7BDI9Iqt24gl4RGdS6hWs9?si=b_zvrA2kTD-Wu7fXcZqYPQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ray Peterson\u2019s<\/a> \u201c<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/track\/3lWuD6qR6f8zjcG1xpOZib?si=e5dd8c4b631944cc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Tell Laura I Love Her<\/a>.\u201d Mayflower said the song is their first true collaboration. The 1960 original is about a man who dies in a car crash, from the man\u2019s perspective. The band\u2019s sequel is from the point of view of the woman in the song. Konstant said she wanted to highlight how traumatic and terrible it would be for this woman in the song to lose her partner.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The other song is called \u201cLittle Black Box.\u201d Konstant said the song explores morality. And back then I was living with an 11-year-old who was constantly getting into trouble, and I couldn\u2019t help but feel that so much of it was circumstantial.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe was a kid with a lot of unique needs. I feel that it was unfair that a lot of that behaviour was deemed undesirable and was met with punishment,\u201d Konstant explained. \u201cI wanted to take a new spin on morality that\u2019s more empowering,\u201d she added.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u201cIt\u2019s like we are creating a space for people that [have been] pushed aside or dismissed,\u201d Konstant says<\/h2>\n<p>Alongside this, Mayflower said that while they don\u2019t subscribe to an ideology, they find comfort in the symbol of Satan. \u201cWe are rejected by the Orthodox god. [Satan] is the one that looks out for us, and is the one who represents not evil, but nature uncontrolled. Nature without hegemonic categories that are imposed upon it,\u201d Mayflower explained.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI always come back to this quote, \u2018Though we forego the privilege of naturalness, we are not deterred, for we ally ourselves instead with the chaos and blackness from which Nature itself spills forth,\u2019\u201d she added.
