Barnett\u2019s last official album was 2021\u2019s Things Take Time, Take Time<\/i> \u2014 a title that wound up being a spot-on description of the recording process for \u201cSite Unseen.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI tried three separate times over two years to track this song, and each time it either wasn\u2019t finished or didn\u2019t sound right, and each time we had to start again,\u201d Barnett shared. \u201cI kept hearing this really high harmony in my head, so for the fourth and final version, I asked Katie if she\u2019d be into singing it with me. I\u2019m a big Waxahatchee fan. I really love Katie\u2019s songwriting and her voice, so it was an honor to have her sing.\u201d<\/p>\n Crutchfield\u2019s trademark twang and Barnett\u2019s drawl join forces for a slice of indie rock that\u2019s really satisfying, even though it centers around the wavering tension of indecision \u2014 something emphasized in the chorus:<\/p>\n Falling in and out of time today<\/i> As for current status? Still a work in progress, and if Barnett truly is a \u201ccreature of habit\u201d as she says, she\u2019ll get to her destination eventually. She\u2019s just gonna take things all in good time.<\/p>\n
