The Walt Disney Board of Directors voted unanimously to elect Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D\u2019Amaro to become the next Chief Executive Officer of The Walt Disney Company, effective March 18.\u00a0<\/p>\n

D\u2019Amaro, who has worked for Disney for 28 years, will succeed longtime Disney CEO Robert A. Iger. He\u2019s been the head of Disney\u2019s Experiences segment since 2020, leading the 12 theme parks and 57 resort hotels worldwide, along with Disney Cruise Line, Adventures by Disney and more.\u00a0<\/p>\n

As he\u2019s been appointed, we\u2019ll likely see new growth within this segment in the future. The Parks and Experiences segment of the mega-corporation earned a record $10 billion this year<\/a>\u2014and there are already plans to build an entirely new Disney park in Abu Dhabi.<\/a><\/p>\n

However, stocks declined 5 percent<\/a> earlier this week when a financial call reported that Disney\u2019s U.S. parks weren\u2019t doing as well lately due to less international visitation.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is no limit to what Disney can achieve, and I am excited to work with our teams across the company and brilliant creative partners to honor Disney\u2019s remarkable legacy while continuing to innovate, grow, and deliver exceptional value for our consumers and shareholders,\u201d continued D\u2019Amaro. \u201cI also want to express my gratitude to Bob Iger for his generous mentorship, his friendship, and the profound impact of his leadership.\u201d<\/p>\n

As D\u2019Amaro becomes CEO, Dana Walden, Co-Chairman of Disney Entertainment, is being promoted to President and Chief Creative Officer of The Walt Disney Company. Walden has led Disney\u2019s news and entertainment media segment, including Disney+. The new role is the first of its kind for the entertainment giant.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Iger will continue serving as Senior Advisor and as a member of the Disney Board until his retirement on December 31, 2026.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n
