Chuck Negron<\/a>, a founding member of Three Dog Night whose lead vocals powered a string of hits including \u201cJoy to the World<\/a>,\u201d \u201cOne\u201d and \u201cAn Old Fashioned Love Song\u201d for one of the top rock acts of the late 1960s and early \u201970s, died Monday. He was 83.<\/p>\n

Negron died of complications from heart failure and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease at his home in Studio City, according to publicist Zach Farnum<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Negron also sang lead on \u201cEasy to Be Hard\u201d and \u201cThe Show Must Go On.\u201d The band\u2019s other hits included \u201cBlack and White<\/a>,\u201d \u201cMama Told Me (Not to Come),\u201d \u201cNever Been to Spain\u201d and \u201cShambala.\u201d<\/p>\n

Three Dog Night made it to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with \u201cMama Told Me (Not to Come),\u201d \u201cJoy to the World<\/a>\u201d and \u201cBlack and White<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

In December 1972, the band hosted and performed on the inaugural edition of Dick Clark<\/a>\u2019s \u201cNew Year\u2019s Rockin\u2019 Eve.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
