Actor Jason Bateman had an uncomfortable moment with singer Charli XCX during Monday\u2019s episode of \u201cSmartless\u201d when he questioned her about not wanting kids.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
While discussing her childhood, Charli XCX revealed that dealing with conflict was hard because she\u2019s an only child. Bateman then asked her whether she wanted to have more than one kid because of that. She responded that she didn\u2019t think she wanted any kids.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
\u201cAll that could change,\u201d Bateman said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
He then said his wife didn\u2019t want kids until she met Bateman.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
\u201cSo you might find somebody…\u201d Bateman began to say.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Charli XCX interrupted him: \u201cWell, I\u2019m married.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Bateman then quipped, \u201cI gotta read a newspaper one of these days.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Charli XCX assured him it was OK. \u201cI knew immediately where you were gonna go.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
On \u201cSmartless,\u201d hosted by Bateman, Sean Hayes and Will Arnett, only one of the hosts knows who the guest is going to be, so the other two hosts are surprised. Charli XCX was Hayes\u2019 guest, so Bateman and Arnett weren\u2019t able to do any research. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Charli XCX married musician George Daniel after three years of dating. She opened up about not being able to decide if she wants kids in her song<\/a> \u201cI Think About It All The Time.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n People on social media tore into Bateman for his awkward line of questioning. One X user wrote<\/a>, \u201cThe Charli xcx \/ Jason Bateman interview was so cringe and embarrassing. I can\u2019t believe his people didn\u2019t just shelve it or at least cut that part about kids out.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
