In a video obtained by Deadline<\/a>, the Tony winner used her concert at Carnegie Hall in New York City to call out the \u201cbuffoon\u201d president and slam his decision to renovate what he called the \u201ctired, broken and dilapidated\u201d D.C. building that houses the Kennedy Center.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cIt\u2019s time for us, it\u2019s time for us \u2014 it\u2019s over time for us \u2014 to rise up, and speak!\u201d LuPone said. \u201cHe cannot, cannot, cannot touch the Kennedy Center!\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n The long-time Trump critic<\/a> also urged the audience to sound off on social media and elsewhere about his plans.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cI\u2019m sorry, but I\u2019m so mad. This, actually, strikes close to home because \u2014 art is the soul of the nation,\u201d LuPone said. \u201cAnd think about it, when was the last time you heard the words \u2018art\u2019 and \u2018culture\u2019 in a conversation in this country? And we have to speak up again. We just have to elevate it, and one of the ways we\u2019re going to elevate it is to keep the building standing. OK? That\u2019s it.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n The Kennedy Center has undergone a MAGA rebrand since Trump\u2019s return to office. In December, the center\u2019s board of Trump-friendly trustees, chaired by the president himself, voted to add his name<\/a> to the building. The move ignited a<\/a> storm<\/a> of<\/a> cancellations.<\/a> Ticket sales at the center have also cratered.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
