Of all the names in files related to late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein<\/a> \u2015 who was once close friends with President Donald Trump<\/a> \u2015 the biggest surprise might be \u201cDaily Show<\/a>\u201d host Jon Stewart<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cTo get ahead of the story, I am also in the files,\u201d Stewart revealed on Monday night. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n But his cameo was different from the regular mentions of Trump and other boldface names that appear in the files.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cAll right, this is actually true,\u201d Stewart said before displaying an Aug. 29, 2015, message Epstein sent to producer Barry Josephson with an idea to help Woody Allen<\/a>, the filmmaker who has faced allegations of sexual abuse. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n Epstein wrote that he suggested Allen \u201cdo an exclusive new stand up routine\u201d for AppleTV or Amazon<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Josephson replied: \u201cMake a true biographical experience with his stand up being the capper. somebody like Jon Stewart could host\/narrate the biographical part.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cExcuse me?\u201d Stewart fired back. \u201cI am offended. Somebody like Jon Stewart? Or Jon Stewart? My point is, do I have the offer or is this an audition?\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n Stewart\u2019s name appeared only in passing. But many others did not, and Stewart pointed out that they included some of the most powerful people in the nation, including members of Trump\u2019s inner circle. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n Trump, he noted, has called for an end to \u201csanctuary city\u201d policies that help protect migrants. Yet the true \u201csanctuary city,\u201d Stewart said, was the one that has shielded Trump and the other figures named in the files from facing accountability. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cThe real sanctuary city is where money and power protect you from the consequences of sex trafficking, or influence peddling, or taking half a billion dollars<\/a> and giving away America\u2019s AI infrastructure,\u201d Stewart said. \u201cNot the small Midwestern city where trying to help a lady get up after she gets maced gets you shot in the back of the fucking head.
