A love legacy<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0<\/h3>\n

The theme for Madison College\u2019s SOUL Affinity Group\u2019s annual Dzigbodi Akyea Art Scholarship art exhibit is \u201cShe Carried Us: Legacies of Labor, Love and Liberation.<\/strong>\u201d The exhibit is open through Feb. 27, with an opening ceremony on Thursday from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Madison College Art Gallery, 1701 Wright St., Room A1005. The art exhibit is organized in honor of Akyea, a longtime college advisor.<\/p>\n

Truth tellers<\/h3>\n

Footage of 2020 protests backgrounds the dancers in \u201cHere Lies the Truth<\/strong>,\u201d presented by Li Chiao-Ping Dance in Lathrop Hall, 1050 University Ave. \u201cHere Lies the Truth\u201d is a mixed-media dance piece. Live music, spoken word and cinematic projections blend with dance, which includes \u201cpersonal accounts of discrimination and resilience.\u201d Tickets cost $25 for performances at 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 2:30 p.m. Saturday.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Lady Liberty emerges<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Every year, the Wisconsin Hoofers, UW-Madison\u2019s outdoors club, host dozens of chilly weather events during an annual Winter Carnival<\/strong>. From ice fishing lessons to Disney-themed skate nights (and indoor activities for those who prefer a warm fire to a snowy wonderland), the carnival has events for winter adventurers of all ages. Make sure to catch the inflatable Lady Liberty head on Saturday, which appears on Lake Mendota once a year.\u00a0<\/p>\n

An ensemble of 16 local actors will tell stories of love, loss and regret in \u201cC\u2019est La Vie<\/strong>,\u201d written by Gretchen Suarez-Pena. Madison Public Theatre presents this series of vignettes about \u201cthe little things that make us all human\u201d for three weekends in February, directed by Stephanie Monday. The show runs just 90 minutes including intermission at the Bartell Theatre, 113 E. Mifflin St. Tickets cost $25.<\/p>\n

The show takes place at Monona Terrace, 1 John Nolen Drive, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are $10 for adults. If you miss these stunning florals, Olbrich Gardens has a display called Orchid Escape running through March 8.<\/p>\n
