Jesca Hoop has announced a new album, Long Wave Home<\/em><\/a>, which will be released on May 1 via Last Laugh\/Republic of Music<\/a>. It\u2019s led by the single \u2018Designer Citizen\u2019, which comes paired with a video directed by James Slater.<\/a> Check it out and find the album cover and tracklist below.<\/p>\n Opening up about her new album, which follows 2022\u2019s Order of Romance<\/em>, Hoop shared:<\/p>\n When I was faced with the challenge of writing and recording a new album, I had the choice to stay where I was comfortable, under the sage guidance of a producer or to step out into the dark and produce it myself. It became clear that if I was going to grow in the craft, I needed to become my own lighthouse. So I made the commitment to take on the Producer role. There were a lot of sleepless nights.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n Writing\u00a0Long Wave Home, though no less daunting, became a refuge for me\u2014a place to explore\u00a0interpersonal connections and the rise and fall of emotions that come with relationships. Writing\u00a0an album can be very agitating, but it\u2019s a discomfort I am comfortable with. What a gift it is to\u00a0spend my time examining my inner world, my relationships, and from it make music.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n My life took an unexpected turn in 2025. Many people exited my life\u2026 like a bus pulling into\u00a0the station. Some of these relationships were of great importance, so I had much to wrestle with\u00a0in these verses.\u00a0Disconnect, or the illusion thereof, was also fodder for songs\u2014amid the chaos and confusion we\u00a0are creating in this world, I feel a responsibility to record what I see transpiring among us: what\u00a0is being done\u2026 by whom and to whom.<\/em><\/p>\n The song titled\u00a0\u2018Caravan\u2019 articulates the risks of investing in or relying upon intimate\u00a0relationships. The title track,\u00a0\u2018Long Wave Home\u2019, addresses a certain estrangement that I believe\u00a0we are all feeling, as technologies isolate each of us and make connections feel ever more\u00a0distant.\u00a0\u2018Playground\u2019 is a protest song advocating for the children of Gaza.<\/em><\/p>\n Recording this album was a road trip and a forage\u2014me and a hard drive in a camper van, pulling\u00a0into studios up and down England, gathering material. I enlisted engineers Leo Abrahams (at The\u00a0Shed in London); Jim and Rob Homes (at Empire Sound on the Isle of Wight); Jim Barr (at J&J\u00a0Studio in Bristol); and Tim Thomas (at Blueprint in Manchester). I brought in Jesse D Vernon to\u00a0arrange brass and tuned percussion. I brought in Sebastian Rochford on drums, Jon Thorne on\u00a0bass, and Sam Amidon to play a cast of stringed instruments. Over three weeks, I roved my way\u00a0through these sessions, gathering performances. I slept under viaducts and ancient oak trees, and\u00a0I woke to dewy, glistening pastures. I found the best caf\u00e9s, and I swam in the sea. The sessions\u00a0felt like discoveries\u2014surprise after surprise\u2014as the musicians and engineers coloured the tunes,\u00a0each in their own way. With a full hard drive and heart, I returned to Manchester\u2014to Tim\u00a0Thomas\u2014where we laid out the sessions like bolts of raw material and constructed the album.<\/em><\/p>\n Long Wave Home is not just a renewal of my commitment to the craft of writing and\u00a0record-making\u2014it\u2019s a vote of confidence and an investment in myself as an artist and\u00a0authority over my vocation and life\u2019s path.<\/em><\/p>\n
