For many moviegoers, \u201cMelania\u201d was not a marquee event \u2014 and one movie theater in Oregon agreed, much to distributor Amazon<\/a>\u2019s chagrin.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

One marquee read, \u201cDoes Melania wear Prada? Find out Friday,\u201d while another referenced Sun Tzu\u2019s \u201cThe Art of War\u201d: <\/em>\u201cTo defeat your enemy, you must know them. \u2018Melania\u2019 starts Friday,\u201d according to The Hollywood Reporter<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

According to the Instagram post, \u201cthe higher ups (i.e., at Amazon) were upset with how the marquee marketed their movie (i.e., Melania), and said that Sunday would be the last day the film ran.\u201d The post also jokingly expressed dismay that employees\u2019 Amazon Prime accounts might get canceled as a result.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Theater manager Jordan Perry told the Oregonian<\/a> that Amazon \u201cwas not happy and\/or did not appreciate my take on marketing their film to our own public.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

After the film was removed from the theater, the marquee noted the snafu with two snarky remarks: \u201cAmazon called. Our marquee made them mad. All Melania <\/em>showings canceled. Show your support at Whole Foods instead,\u201d and \u201cJoin Amazon Prime for Free 2-Day Shipping.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In a blog post on the theater website,<\/a> Perry elaborated on why he decided to show \u201cMelania\u201d in the first place, writing, \u201cMostly, I thought doing so would be funny. For some of you, that\u2019s enough. Great!\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
