Operating income dropped more than 11% to $197 million from operating income of $223 million.<\/p>\n<p>The top-grossing movie in the current quarter included <em>Chainsaw Man \u2013 The Movie: Reze Arc<\/em> with $117 million in global revenue.<\/p>\n<p>By comparison, the previous-year fiscal period benefitted from the theatrical success of <em>Venom: The Last Dance<\/em> ($478 million) and <em>Kraven the Hunter (<\/em>$54 million), as well as licensing revenue from other theatrically released films.<\/p>\n<p>Indeed, the media giant saw revenue declines across all business segments, including a 36% drop in home entertainment to $112 million from $176 million; 29% drop in motion pictures revenue to $792 million from $1.1 billion; 60% plummet in theatrical revenue to $98 million from $244 million; 26% decline in television revenue to $133 million from $181 million; and 7% drop in streaming revenue to $337 million from $363 million in the prior year period.<\/p>\n<p>Television production revenue dropped 10% to $718 million from $797 million last year.<\/p>\n<p>Media networks, which includes linear cable channels, digital multicast networks, and free ad-supported streaming television (FAST) channels, increased revenue almost 10% to $775 million from $707 million.<\/p>\n<p>Top-selling home entertainment title in the quarter was <em>28 Years Later<\/em>, which was released across digital retail channels on July 29, 2025, and on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc, Blu-ray and DVD on Sept. 23.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"uJ19be notranslate\" data-wiz-uids=\"e7l1vc_s,e7l1vc_t\" data-complete=\"true\" data-processed=\"true\"><span class=\"vKEkVd\" data-animation-atomic=\"\" data-wiz-attrbind=\"class=e7l1vc_r\/TKHnVd\" data-sae=\"\"><span aria-hidden=\"true\" aria-owns=\"action-menu-parent-container\"><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/eepurl.com\/dgLnU5\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Subscribe HERE to the FREE Media Play News Daily Newsletter!<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"rp4wp-related-posts\">\n<h3>Related Posts<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<div class=\"rp4wp-related-post-content\">\n<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mediaplaynews.com\/sony-ups-q3-home-entertainment-sales\/\">Sony Ups Q3 Home Entertainment Sales<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Sony Pictures Home Entertainment Feb. 2 reported third-quarter (ended Dec. 31, 2017) revenue of $331 million, which was up $3 million from revenue of $328 million during the previous-year period.
