Over 500 people attended a community candlelight vigil to pray for Savannah Guthrie<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s missing mom, Nancy Guthrie<\/strong><\/a>, at a church in Tucson, Arizona, on Wednesday, February 4.<\/p>\n

Locals gathered at St. Philip\u2019s in the Hills Episcopal Church to show their support for the Today<\/em> show<\/a> cohost\u2019s mother, who was reported missing from her home outside of Tucson on Sunday, February 1. She was last seen on Saturday, January 31.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat is happening is heart-wrenching, and this community needed this,\u201d\u00a0Sally Shamrell<\/strong>, an actress and former local reporter who worked alongside Savannah, 54, at Tucson news channel KVOA, told local outlet KOLD<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Shamrell said she helped organize Wednesday\u2019s service after Savannah shared a plea for prayers<\/a> for her mother via Instagram on Monday, February 2.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tToday viewers are rallying around Savannah Guthrie and her family. News broke on Sunday, February 1, that Savannah\u2019s mother, Nancy Guthrie, was reported missing in Arizona. The following morning, Savannah was absent from the Today show but released a statement on behalf of her family. \u201cOn behalf of our family, I want to thank everyone [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI thought a lot of people are feeling kind of helpless right now,\u201d Shamrell told KOLD. \u201cBut we can\u2019t \u2026 All we\u2019re doing is waiting for the next alert, and that is, that is not what Savannah and the Guthries are about.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe need to come together, wrap our arms around each other, and lift each other up,\u201d she added. \u201cIn hope, and you know just light and just truly bond together to just wish and hope Nancy comes home.\u201d<\/p>\n

In an interview with CBS News<\/em><\/a>, Shamrell said that the Guthries are a \u201cvery revered family\u201d in the local community.<\/p>\n

\u201cNancy and Savannah have both contributed so much to the Tucson community,\u201d she said. \u201cThey\u2019re just positive contributors and very faithful women. What\u2019s going on is absolutely heart-wrenching.\u201d<\/p>\n

St. Philip\u2019s dedicated its last service of the day to Nancy, 84, and those in attendance placed lit candles on the altar. The vigil was livestreamed<\/a> via the church\u2019s official website on Wednesday night.<\/p>\n

Pastor John Tittle<\/strong>, who is from Nancy\u2019s church, St. Andrews Presbyterian, spoke at the candlelight service, per KOLD. (Nancy does not attend St. Philip\u2019s, reported the outlet.)<\/p>\n

\u201cMost merciful God, we pray for our sister Nancy,\u201d Tittle said. \u201cBring her swiftly to safety, and to those whom she loves.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Pima County Sheriff\u2019s Department is investigating Nancy\u2019s disappearance as a crime, but said Wednesday that it had not yet identified any suspects<\/a>. President Donald Trump<\/strong> pledged<\/a> to direct \u201call federal law enforcement\u201d available to the case.<\/p>\n
