The Big 8 band will play New Orleans R&B, Southern soul and Americana Friday from 9 p.m. to midnight at the Wild\u00a0Hare Tavern, 915 H St., Arcata.<\/p>\n
Singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Micah Nelson, aka the Particle Kid, is teaming up with Aroyn Davis, Milo Gonzalez, SisterLu and Water Cymatics for his latest West Coast tour.<\/p>\n
Nelson, son of music legend Willie Nelson, will perform Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at The Old Steeple in Ferndale. Tickets are available at https:\/\/www.ferndalemusiccompany.com\/calendar.<\/p>\n
Nelson\u2019s most recent full-album release,\u00a0\u201cTime Capsule,\u201d is\u00a0a 26-song musical journey through time, space and consciousness. It features guest appearances from Jim James, Sean Ono Lennon, J Mascis, Margo Price, The Lovely Eggs, and Micah\u2019s dad, Willie Nelson, on three tracks.<\/p>\n
The Cal Poly Humboldt Department of Dance, Music, and Theatre will present the four annual \u201cFiesta Folkl\u00f3rica,\u201d directed by Jacqueline Silva, Feb. 21 at 7 p.m. and Feb. 22 at 2 p.m. at the Van Duzer Theatre at Cal Poly Humboldt in Arcata.<\/p>\n
Featured performers include Fiesta Folkl\u00f3rica, Danza Azteca and Folkl\u00f3rico Ensemble and Mariachi de Humboldt.<\/p>\n
Tickets are available tickets.humboldt.edu\/dance-music-and-theatre. Tickets are also available at the door. Tickets prices are $15 general, $10 for children and seniors and free for Cal Poly Humboldt students with ID.<\/p>\n
Silva said, \u201c\u2018Fiesta Folkl\u00f3rica\u2019 is a celebration of Mexican culture through music and traditional dancing. Each year, we aim to showcase dances from different regions of Mexico and its unique diversity from one another. Mariachi de Humboldt will also be showcasing various styles of Mexican music as well. Not only is this concert for our campus, but this concert is for our community. Especially during these uncertain times, we want a space for all to come and celebrate our cultural heritage.<\/p>\n
\u201cRepresentation and preserving Mexican culture is even more needed with so much going on in the world. We are telling stories through dancing and music. These stories represent our ancestors\u2019 ceremonies, historical events, animals native to the region and courtship,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
