Laurence Fisburne is joining Scarlett Johansson<\/a> and Mike Flanagan<\/a> for a new nightmare in \u201cThe Exorcist<\/a>\u201d universe.<\/p>\n

An Oscar nominee and Emmy and Tony Award winner, Fisburne boards the franchise reboot with a previously announced ensemble led by Johansson, Jacobi Jupe<\/a> (\u201cHamnet\u201d), Diane Lane<\/a> and Chiwetel Ejiofor<\/a>.<\/p>\n

While Fishburne\u2019s role is under wraps, Variety previously reported the film will tell an all-new story and is not a sequel to 2023\u2019s \u201cThe Exorcist: Believer<\/a>.\u201d The project will shoot in New York City, and is set for a wide theatrical release in March 2027 from Universal Pictures<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Blumhouse-Atomic Monster and Morgan Creek Entertainment<\/a> will produce the film with Flanagan, who is writing and directing via his Red Room Pictures<\/a>. Alexandra Magistro<\/a> will also executive produce for Red Room<\/a>. David Robinson<\/a> produces for Morgan Creek while Jason Blum<\/a> and Ryan Turek<\/a> serve as producer and executive producer, respectively, for Blumhouse-Atomic Monster.<\/p>\n
