J. Cole<\/a>\u2019s The Fall-Off<\/em><\/a> begins.<\/p>\n Friday (Feb. 6), the Dreamville co-founder finally launched his long-awaited new album<\/a>, a double-disc affair that he previously said \u201cbrings the concept of my first project full circle.\u201d In a note to fans shared in the days leading up to the project\u2019s release, Cole detailed the artistic intentions behind each half of the new album while connecting the larger story to The Come Up<\/em>, his 2007 debut mixtape.<\/p>\n \u201cThe Fall-Off<\/em>, a double album made with intentions to be my last, brings the concept of my first project full circle,\u201d Cole told fans<\/a>. \u201cDisc 29 tells a story of me returning to my hometown at age 29. A decade after moving to New York, accomplishing what would have seemed impossible to most, I was at a crossroads with the 3 loves of my life: my woman, my craft, and my city. Disc 39 gives insight into my mindset during a similar trip home, this time as a 39 year old man. Older and a little closer to peace.\u201d<\/p>\n When first announcing The Fall-Off<\/em>\u2019s release date, Cole enlisted the narration of Dan Harumi, pulling from a May 2025 YouTube video from the comedian titled \u201cHow Long Is America Supposed to Last?<\/a>\u201d<\/p>\n In the video, Harumi speaks at length about what he describes as the natural ebb and flow of both fame, and the United States at large.<\/p>\n \u201cEverything is supposed to go away eventually,\u201d Harumi says in the video. \u201cYou see this especially in show business with famous actors or musicians, and it\u2019s like, \u2018Oh, this guy used to be famous and then he fell off.
