Finding The Feeling<\/strong>
Before films, before auditions, before the Yash Raj Films debut, there was a little girl with a big mind. \u201cI was very oblivious,\u201d Aneet laughs, describing her childhood. \u201cI was always daydreaming, in my own world.\u201d Growing up in what she describes as a \u201cpretty normal life\u201d in Amritsar, there wasn\u2019t always room for emotional excess\u2026 for wanting to scream, laugh too loudly, or to feel too deeply. So she found another way in.<\/p>\n

Poetry became that space. Words gave shape to feelings she didn\u2019t yet have language for. Writing was her outlet to process everything she felt inside. \u201cI loved the adrenaline of it,\u201d she remembers. \u201cI couldn\u2019t really live without it.\u201d It wasn\u2019t about performance back then. It was about having an outlet for emotions that had nowhere else to go; about finding somewhere safe to place all her thoughts and feelings.<\/p>\n

Acting, when it eventually arrived, was an extension. Still, reality demanded pragmatism. There was always a Plan B. Education mattered. College mattered. \u201cI needed to find myself there,\u201d she explains. The odds, after all, were against her. This wasn\u2019t supposed to happen. Not like this. And yet.<\/p>\n

The Day Everything Changed<\/strong>
When the call from Yash Raj Films came, it wasn\u2019t dramatic. Just an instruction: come to the office. Aneet flew down from Amritsar with her father, unsure, bracing herself for disappointment. \u201cI didn\u2019t allow myself to react,\u201d she recalls. \u201cI was like, until someone says it, you don\u2019t have it.\u201dWhen Aditya Chopra finally said the words \u2013 \u201cYou\u2019ve got it\u201d \u2013 Aneet didn\u2019t react the way you might expect. \u201cI didn\u2019t really have a reaction at all,\u201d she admits. \u201cIt was too big to process.\u201d<\/p>\n

There were no ters, no immediate joy. Just a strange stillness, like time had paused.Her father\u2019s reaction stayed with her longer than her own. \u201cI\u2019ve never seen my dad like that,\u201d she says quietly. \u201cHe just looked at me like\u2026 has this really happened?\u201d And, underneath the happiness, there was fear, a shared anxiety. \u201cWe were both actually very scared,\u201d she admits with endearing honesty. \u201cThis was a world we didn\u2019t know.\u201d Even after contracts were signed, certainty didn\u2019t arrive. \u201cAnything can happen,\u201d she kept thinking. \u201cYou never know.\u201d That sense of disbelief, interestingly, has never fully left her.<\/p>\n

The months leading up to Saiyaara\u2019s release were filled with anticipation and anxiety. \u201cThere was so much preparation,\u201d Aneet recalls. \u201cAnd yet everything felt inadequate.\u201d She wanted to be enough. To somehow do justice to the opportunity. To honour the trust placed in her by a studio that had launched some of the most iconic careers in Hindi cinema. Together with her co-star Ahaan, she held onto one guiding thought. Both first-timers, both standing at the edge of something enormous, they found reassurance in each other\u2019s nerves, excitement, and shared intent. She reveals, \u201cWe kept saying one thing to each other: \u2018Let\u2019s remind the world of a kind of love they\u2019ve forgotten. Let\u2019s do it for love.\u2019 We said it all the time.\u201d<\/p>\n

“Ahaan and I\u00a0kept saying one thing to each other: \u2018Let\u2019s remind the world of a kind of love they\u2019ve forgotten. Let\u2019s do it for love.\u2019 We said it all the time.”<\/h2>\n

Grand, sacrificial love. The kind that risks everything and asks for nothing in return. That was the plan. \u201cIt stopped being about \u2018am I acting well?\u2019\u201d she explains. \u201cIt became about whether we were serving the larger picture.\u201d It was also Ahaan who helped shift her perspective when the pressure began to feel overwhelming. One day, he said something that stayed with her. \u201cWho cares what the film does or doesn\u2019t do?\u201d he asked her. Imagine this \u2013 you\u2019ve given one whole year of your life, and it\u2019s now immortalised in these two hours. It\u2019s there forever. You\u2019ve given everything you had, and there\u2019s nothing more you could have done.\u201d When the film was released, Aneet\u2019s first thought wasn\u2019t numbers or success. It was simply: it\u2019s out.<\/p>\n

Only later, much later, did reality catch up. The messages. The calls. The realisation that something rare had happened. \u201cIt was too much for my nervous system,\u201d she says honestly. \u201cI couldn\u2019t register it.\u201d Now, looking back, she understands the magnitude. The responsibility. \u201cThis doesn\u2019t happen to a lot of people,\u201d she says softly. \u201cAnd it happened to me.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Weight Of Being Seen<\/strong>
Fame, for Aneet, arrived fast and loudly. With it came opinions. Perceptions. Narratives she didn\u2019t author. \u201cEmotionally, it was jarring,\u201d she remembers. \u201cSo many people having opinions about you.\u201d There\u2019s something deeply self-aware in how she speaks about this. She knows this is the cost of visibility. She\u2019s learnt not to care too much. Or, rather, not to let it consume her.<\/p>\n

She had to absorb the realisation that millions of people could believe things about her that weren\u2019t true. That her story wasn\u2019t always hers to tell. \u201cThat was strange,\u201d she says. \u201cBecause I know who I am. The people close to me know who I am.\u201d Over time, she adjusted. Just by caring less about what she couldn\u2019t control. \u201cYou can\u2019t be caring so much,\u201d she points out. \u201cYou have to live.\u201d<\/p>\n

What grounds her is memory. Family. The Padda household in Amritsar, where meals are insisted upon, movies are watched together, and life feels \u201cjust easy.\u201d Where her mother shops with her, her father talks to her about life, and love is not conditional. She describes it as \u201ca lot of your typical dysfunctional family\u2026 My parents think I\u2019m really strong,\u201d she says, smiling. That pride matters to her more than any headline.<\/p>\n

Who She Is, Really<\/strong>
Off camera, Aneet is observant. Constantly moving. She loves people watching. Adores animals. Smiles at strangers. She sings. Plays the guitar. Writes when she feels like it. She\u2019s also deeply emotional, but not fragile. Her friends call her emotionally intelligent; her parents call her strong \u2013 really strong. Strength, in her world, is sticking to her guns even when the odds feel impossible. \u201cThey\u2019re so proud that I did what I always wanted to do,\u201d she says, and you can hear how much that matters to her.<\/p>\n

That personality extends to her relationship with Vaani, her Saiyaara character. There are overlaps \u2013 particularly in vulnerability \u2013 but she resists defining herself through one role. \u201cI\u2019m not just one thing,\u201d she says. \u201cWe contain multitudes.\u201d She\u2019s honest about still figuring herself out, about being confused sometimes about who she is beyond the screen. And she\u2019s comfortable with that uncertainty.<\/p>\n

I hope I live.\u201d<\/p>\n

At 23, she doesn\u2019t claim to have all the answers. What she has is instinct, empathy, and a deep love for the work. And maybe that\u2019s exactly what makes her one of Bollywood\u2019s most exciting new faces.<\/p>\n
