In the latest slew of Epstein emails, Sarah Ferguson has hit the headlines for taking Beatrice and Eugenie (then aged 19 and 20) to meet the disgraced financier in Miami, just days after he had been released from prison for his conviction for soliciting a minor for prostitution. Their names appear in the files several times, in incidents that will likely bring them \u201cvarying degrees of embarrassment\u201d. Ferguson\u2019s motivations are not \u201chard to fathom\u201d; other emails reveal her telling the financier she \u201curgently\u201d needed \u00a320,000 to pay her rent, and in a \u201cparticularly desperate exchange\u201d offering to work for Epstein \u201corganising your houses\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>There will be a degree of \u201csympathy for the daughters\u201d for being drawn into the scandal. But there\u2019s \u201cno doubt whatever that they should have refused to be part of their mother\u2019s [actions]\u201d, royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told the publication.<\/p>\n<p>That the princesses should have to answer for their parents\u2019 mistakes is \u201cdeeply unfair and wholly undeserved\u201d, said Alexander Larman in <a target=\"_blank\" data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/spectator.com\/article\/is-it-all-over-for-princesses-beatrice-and-eugenie\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-url=\"https:\/\/spectator.com\/article\/is-it-all-over-for-princesses-beatrice-and-eugenie\/\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\"><u>The Spectator<\/u><\/a>. However, it is inevitable that \u201cinterest is going to alight on them\u201d. The pair have already faced criticism over everything from their looks to their privileges and jobs. Public opinion is clear that it is \u201cunforgivable to maintain friendly communication with a convicted paedophile\u201d. But things are murkier when the \u201cvillains of the piece are your father and mother\u201d. The princesses refrained from commenting following their father\u2019s disastrous \u201cNewsnight\u201d interview, but the \u201cpressure has mounted\u201d as the scandal has intensified.
