The sapling, gifted through the National Trust\u2019s<br \/>\nTrees of Hope initiative, is one of only 49 distributed nationwide,<br \/>\nwith Moving On Inverclyde among just two Scottish recipients.<\/p>\n<p>Bev Thow, chief executive of Moving On Inverclyde, welcomed<br \/>\nPrince Edward and explained the significance of the tree as a<br \/>\nsymbol of resilience, healing, and new beginnings.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.greenocktelegraph.co.uk\/news\/25831595.prince-edward-plants-sycamore-gap-tree-sapling-greenock\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">She told the Greenock Telegraph:<\/a><br \/>\n\u201cIt was a profound honour to share this moment of reflection, hope<br \/>\nand renewal with His Royal Highness.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt Moving On Inverclyde, we see every day how recovery is<br \/>\nnurtured through care, connection and belief in what comes next.<br \/>\nThis sapling will stand as a lasting reminder that even after loss,<br \/>\ngrowth is still possible.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Edward was introduced to the charity\u2019s staff and Inverclyde<br \/>\nCouncil horticultural team, including apprentices Jack McKerracher<br \/>\nand Lewis McGhee, who assisted in the ceremonial planting. Lewis,<br \/>\n18, described the experience as an unexpected but memorable part of<br \/>\nhis apprenticeship.<\/p>\n<p>Members of the public were delighted by the royal visit. Local<br \/>\nresident Christine Currie said, \u201cWe were just out for a walk and I<br \/>\ncouldn\u2019t believe it. It is unbelievable. Prince Edward looks great<br \/>\nand he seemed to enjoy talking to everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The day also included a tour of the Beacon Arts Centre and a<br \/>\ncelebration of local talent as part of the Inverclyde Music<br \/>\nFestival, highlighting the role of the arts in community<br \/>\ncohesion.<\/p>\n<p>Moving On Inverclyde, established 24 years ago, supports<br \/>\nindividuals and families affected by problematic substance use. The<br \/>\nnewly planted sapling will continue to grow in Battery Park as a<br \/>\nliving reminder that, even after loss, hope and renewal can take<br \/>\nroot and flourish.<\/p>\n<p>Prince Edward\u2019s visit comes amid his recent public comments on<br \/>\nthe Jeffrey Epstein files, emphasising that the focus should remain<br \/>\non the victims.
