Those mischievous Minions will have their Olympic moment after all.<\/p>\n

Tomas-Llorenc Guarino Sabate obtained the final approval he needed for his music on Friday, allowing the Spanish figure skater to perform his short program \u2014 set to a medley from the animated comedy from Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment \u2014 when the men\u2019s competition begins\u00a0at the Milan Cortina Games<\/a>\u00a0on Tuesday night.<\/p>\n

Sabate had been performing the fan-favorite program all season, thinking he had the proper approval through a system called ClicknClear to use four cuts of music Minions. Last week,\u00a0Universal Studios<\/a>\u00a0asked for him to provide more details on the music Sabate was using and the Minions-inspired outfit that he had been wearing.<\/p>\n

According to Guarino Sabat\u00e9, he submitted his program music for clearance last August and skated all season long to the music \u2014 only to learn he couldn’t perform it at the Olympics with a few days to hatch a new plan.<\/p>\n

“Finding this out last Friday, so close to the biggest competition of my life, was incredible disappointing,” his Instagram note continued. “Nevertheless, I will face this challenge head-on and do everything I can to make the best of the situation.”<\/p>\n

The men’s short program is scheduled for Feb. 10, giving the Spaniard barely a week to come up with a plan to replace routine. <\/p>\n

Guarino Sabat\u00e9 is not the only skater this year plagued my clearance issues for music. Reigning world champion Alysa Liu recently revealed<\/a> she’s unlikely to perform to Lady Gaga’s “Bloody Mary,” which Liu used at the 2026 U.S. Figure Skating Championships to lock in her ticket to Milan Cortina.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
