<\/source><\/source><\/source><\/source><\/source><\/picture>\n<\/p><\/div> Royals speedster Terrance Gore leaps into the arms of Eric Hosmer after scoring on a wild pitch from Minnesota Twins reliever Trevor May for a 4-3 win on April 10, 2016 at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City.<\/p>\n The Kansas City Star<\/span><\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n <\/p>\n The last time I spoke with former Royals speedster Terrance Gore was in 2022, shortly after he signed with the New York Mets.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Gore, who died Friday at the age of 34<\/a>, joined New York in the hopes of securing a fourth World Series ring. He got one with the Royals in 2015, the Dodgers in 2020 and the Braves in 2021.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Despite appearing in just 112 regular-season games, Gore was with teams that made the playoffs six times. His incredible speed on the basepaths made Gore a weapon during the postseason.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n In our final conversation, Gore spoke about his love of playoff baseball.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cIt never gets old. It\u2019s just an adrenaline rush,\u201d Gore said. \u201cI love the playoffs, the weather and the fans and being in such a critical game. Each and every pitch, you\u2019re just so locked in. This is what a guy strives for. …<\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cI love it. I love the towels. I love the little (foam) fingers that certain teams give the fans and the media and all that stuff. I love every last bit of it. I know during the season, they always say like teams play as a family and yada yada yada, but I feel like we come together more in October. Like that\u2019s when you really come together as a team.\u201d<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Like Gore\u2019s relatives, his baseball family is in mourning following his untimely death.
