Complaints about the Super Bowl halftime show are nothing new, but last year\u2019s performance by Kendrick Lamar fueled intense criticism.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
The FCC confirmed that it received 125 formal complaints regarding Lamar\u2019s performance, with concerns coming from cities such as Columbia, North Carolina, and Fort Wayne, Indiana, and more.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
One viewer from Colombia expressed outrage over the lineup, writing, \u201cThis has time show is racist, there are only African American people in it, no Caucasian people in the performance, which is racist, promoting that one race is superior to another, which is not only unethical, it\u2019s illegal.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Others criticized the musical content directly. A professional musician from Fort Wayne weighed in, stating, \u201cThe half time show was AWFUL. Who listens and UNDERSTANDS what they are saying. I\u2019m a professional musician and I find this very insulting.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
A person from Richmond, Virginia chimed in, \u201cReally not suitable for family viewing, extremely disappointing. You should rate that as \u201cR\u201d because my children are asking if those words are ok to say at school.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Another complaint came from Cincinnati, Ohio, where a viewer launched into a furious critique of the show. The complaint read: \u201cThe half-time show was the worst show in the history of the Super Bowl! You couldn\u2019t understand them rapping, which isn\u2019t singing! There were no white people on the stage, and at last count, black people only make up 18% of the US population.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
