A country music star was left nearly in tears when he revealed to fans he would no longer be performing and shared the emotional reasons behind his exit from the music industry.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Country music<\/a> icon Alan Jackson, 67, has recorded 21 studio albums, including two Christmas albums and two gospel albums, as well as three greatest-hits albums. He’s also been previously noted among the top 10 richest active country music<\/a> stars in the US, but last year, he confirmed he would no longer be performing.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Addressing the crowd in Milwaukee<\/a> last year, he explained, “Y\u2019all may have heard that I\u2019m winding down. In fact, this is my last road show we\u2019re doing. Preciate y\u2019all. Y\u2019all gonna make me tear up out here.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

He continued, “I will say, this is my last road show out here, but we are planning on doing a big finale show in Nashville next summer.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

“Just felt like I had to end it all where it all started, and that\u2019s in Nashville, Tennessee. Music City. I got to do my last one there. This is the last one out on the road for me. It\u2019s been a long, sweet ride.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The singer then revealed his memory of getting started in the music industry as he added, “It started 40 years ago this September. My wife and I drove to Nashville with an old U-Haul trailer chasing the dream, and it has been a crazy ride. Lived the American Dream for sure, and I\u2019m so blessed, and thank y\u2019all so much for all of your support, coming to the shows.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

He then thanked the crowd for their support once more as he said, “I just want to say thanks to y\u2019all once again. Y\u2019all have been a wonderful crowd here tonight. I can\u2019t think of a better way to end my touring career out here with y\u2019all. Wonderful crowd. God bless you. Appreciate you. Maybe I\u2019ll see y\u2019all again one day.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Jackson’s reasons for stepping down from his stellar career are said to be for health reasons and to spend time with family, after his singing netted him a decent sum across 38 years. Since beginning in 1978, Jackson now has an estimated fortune of $150 million\u00a0according to CelebrityNetWorth.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The star has previously opened up on his health and in 2021 he revealed that he has Charcot-Marie-Tooth, a chronic neuropathy condition that effects a person\u2019s balance and ability to walk.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

He explained, “I\u2019ve been touring for over 30 years, you know, played everywhere in the country and parts of the world. Have had a wonderful career, and getting into my twilight years, and all my daughters are grown, and I got one grandchild and one on the way. Enjoy spending more time at home, and don\u2019t want to be away like I had to be in my younger days, and I don\u2019t tour as much now as I did 10 years ago. But I think it\u2019s getting time to start thinking about hanging it up full-time.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
