(AP) \u2014 Stars were front-and-center at Super Bowl 60, with Chris Pratt and Jon Bon Jovi introducing the teams, a series of soaring pre-game performances and\u00a0Bad Bunny\u2019s much-anticipated halftime show<\/a>\u00a0featuring a tour of Puerto Rican culture and a real-life marriage.<\/p>\n Before the game at Levi\u2019s Stadium, Blue Ivy Carter and her sister Rumi leaped in an end zone and Green Day delivered a tribute to the Super Bowl\u2019s 60th anniversary.<\/p>\n Brandi Carlile kept it sincere and simple for \u201cAmerica, the Beautiful,\u201d Charlie Puth made \u201cThe Star-Spangled Banner\u201d big and soulful and Coco Jones brought a bit of the elements of both to \u201cLift Every Voice and Sing.\u201d<\/p>\n Bad Bunny<\/a>\u00a0brought Lady Gaga, Ricky Martin and a whole lot of his native Puerto Rico to his halftime show.<\/p>\n \u201cGod bless America!\u201d he shouted toward the end, a rare English phrase in the\u00a013-minute halftime show<\/a>. Then he gave a roll call of the nations of North, South and Central America, including Uruguay, Colombia, Venezuela, Cuba, the United States and Canada.<\/p>\n A parade of flags from those nations marched through the sugar plantation fields that functioned as the show\u2019s centerpiece.<\/p>\n After the list of nations, and at the end of the show, he declared, \u201cMi Patria Puerto Rico, seguimos aqu\u00ed,\u201d or \u201cMy homeland Puerto Rico, we are still here.\u201d<\/p>\n He also brought out a parade of celebrities, including Cardi B, Jessica Alba and Pedro Pascal.<\/p>\n The 31-year-old began the performance in the furrows of the faux sugar cane crops, walking past unmistakable Puerto Rican imagery including farmers in straw hats, old men playing dominos and a shaved ice stand as he performed his 2022 reggaeton hit \u201cTit\u00ed Me Pregunt\u00f3.\u201d He carried a football and wore an all-white football jersey with the number 64 and his real last name, Ocasio.<\/p>\n The opening and closing of the show were not really visible inside the stadium because it was obscured by the sugar cane plants, many of which were people in costumes who ran on to the field to form the maze.<\/p>\n He then stood atop a tiny pink house with dancers in the front yard and performed \u201cYo Perreo Sola\u201d and stood atop a pickup truck as he did \u201cEOO.\u201d<\/p>\n The scene shifted to a wedding, where the marrying couple parted to reveal Lady Gaga as the first surprise guest. She joined Bad Bunny in performing \u201cBaile Inolvidable.\u201d Gaga did her own Super Bowl halftime show in 2017.<\/p>\n The couple was actually married during the show, according to a representative for Bad Bunny, who said he served as a witness and signed their marriage certificate.<\/p>\n Bad Bunny then broke into his \u201cNuevaYol\u201d in a faux shopping center parking lot.<\/p>\n Ricky Martin, a Puerto Rican star from a previous generation, joined him for \u201cLo Que Le Pas\u00f3 a Hawaii.\u201d<\/p>\n The show came a week after the 31-year-old superstar won the\u00a0Grammy for album of the year<\/a>\u00a0for \u201cDeb\u00ed Tirar M\u00e1s Fotos,\u201d a love letter to his home.<\/p>\n The halftime show included a young boy watching the Grammy telecast on TV with his parents. Bad Bunny appeared and handed the boy a Grammy statuette.<\/p>\n As the show ended, he held up the football to the camera. It had a message that was also on the scoreboard: \u201cThe only thing more powerful than hate is love.\u201d<\/p>\n On Truth Social, President Donald Trump called the show \u201cabsolutely terrible, one of the worst, EVER!\u201d<\/p>\n San Francisco Bay Area punk-pop vets\u00a0Green Day<\/a>\u00a0took the pre-game stage and performed a snippet of their song \u201cGood Riddance (Time of Your Life)\u201d to a parade of former Super Bowl MVPs.<\/p>\n Local heroes Steve Young, Joe Montana and Jerry Rice were among those who walked out during the song meant to celebrate 60 years of Super Bowls.<\/p>\n Billie Joe Armstong, Mike Dirnt and Tre Cool then blasted into the harder and less sentimental stuff, including \u201cHoliday,\u201d \u201cBoulevard of Broken Dreams\u201d and \u201cAmerican Idiot.\u201d<\/p>\n Armstrong did not censor the f-word in the lyrics of \u201cAmerican Idiot.\u201d The word was muted on the NBC telecast but drew loud cheers inside the stadium.<\/p>\n Singer-songwriter\u00a0Charlie Puth<\/a>\u00a0delivered a sweeping and soulful rendition of \u201cThe Star-Spangled Banner.\u201d<\/p>\n The 34-year-old from New Jersey stood at a Rhodes electric piano as he sang and was backed by a choir and horn section.<\/p>\n Before that,\u00a0Brandi Carlile<\/a>\u00a0gave an earnest acoustic rendition of \u201cAmerica, the Beautiful.\u201d<\/p>\n The 44-year-old folk and country rocker wore a black suit and was backed by a violin and cello on the field at Levi Stadium.<\/p>\n The Grammy winner<\/a>\u00a0told the AP this week that she\u2019d use no prerecorded tracks, saying \u201cthe people deserve to have you live.\u201d<\/p>\n After the song Carlile, who is from Ravensdale, Washington, about 30 miles (48 kilometers) outside Seattle said she was \u201crelieved, and so excited for the Seahawks baby let\u2019s go!\u201d<\/p>\n Coco Jones<\/a>, a 28-year-old singer-songwriter and actor from Columbia, South Carolina wore a white gown and was backed by a string octet as she performed\u00a0\u201cLift Every Voice and Sing,\u201d<\/a>\u00a0a song that has become known as the unofficial Black national anthem.<\/p>\n \u201cI feel really amazing, I hope that I did my ancestors proud, and I hope that I inspired the nation to come together,\u201d Jones told the AP just after the song.<\/p>\n She FaceTimed with her mom on the sideline ater the performance while her fiance, Cleveland Cavaliers player Donovan Mitchell, held the phone.<\/p>\n Written by James Weldon Johnson, the song has been performed at the Super Bowl each year since 2021, the first Super Bowl after the protests surrounding the killing of George Floyd, when Black Lives Matter sentiment, and the song, became especially prominent.<\/p>\n Chris Pratt rocked a Seahawks jersey while attending the Super Bowl and gave a rousing introduction to the team before they ran out onto the field.<\/p>\n On the opposite side of the field, Jon Bon Jovi delivered the Patriots\u2019 intro.<\/p>\n Stars including Travis Scott and Jay-Z were on the sidelines ahead of the game.
