Actor Catherine O\u2019Hara died from a pulmonary embolism, according to a Los Angeles County death certificate obtained by multiple<\/a> news<\/a> outlets<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Rectal cancer was listed as an underlying cause of O\u2019Hara\u2019s death, but a blood clot in her lung was cited as the immediate cause. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n She was rushed to the hospital in serious condition after having difficulty breathing, TMZ reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n A representative confirmed her death to celebrity.land on Jan. 30. She was 71. O\u2019Hara\u2019s rep told People<\/a> that a \u201cprivate celebration of life will be held by the family.\u201d Her remains were given to her husband, Bo Welch, according to TMZ. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n The comedic actor was known for her roles in \u201cHome Alone,\u201d \u201cSchitt\u2019s Creek,\u201d \u201cBest in Show\u201d and more. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n Amid news of her sudden death last month, several of her former co-stars and other celebrities offered tributes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Macaulay Culkin, who played O\u2019Hara\u2019s son in \u201cHome Alone,\u201d wrote a heartbreaking message on Instagram<\/a>, along with photos of the two together.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Dan Levy, who played her son on the comedy \u201cSchitt\u2019s Creek,\u201d wrote on Instagram that it was a \u201cgift\u201d to be around O\u2019Hara\u2019s \u201cbrilliance.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cHaving spent over fifty years collaborating with my Dad, Catherine was extended family before she ever played my family,\u201d Levy wrote<\/a>. \u201cIt\u2019s hard to imagine a world without her in it. I will cherish every funny memory I was fortunate enough to make with her.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n The cast of \u201cThe Studio,\u201d in which O\u2019Hara played Patty, who mentors a film executive played by Seth Rogan, released a statement<\/a> saying they were at a \u201closs for words\u201d over her death.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cShe was a hero to all of us, and we pinched ourselves every day that we got to work with her on \u2018The Studio,\u2019\u201d the statement said. \u201cShe was somehow classy, warm, and hilarious all at the same time.
