Bad Bunny<\/a> made history during last night’s Super Bowl halftime show<\/a>, from making history as the first predominantly Spanish-language artist to perform to breaking viewership records.<\/p>\n\n

The global superstar, whose real name is Benito Antonio Mart\u00ednez Ocasio,\u00a0was announced as the\u00a0halftime performer<\/a>\u00a0last year. Conservative leaders and politicians\u00a0heavily criticized the choice<\/a>, including Trump<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In response, the\u00a0conservative organization Turning Point USA<\/a>, founded by\u00a0the late Charlie Kirk<\/a>, hosted an alternative halftime show titled the “All-American Halftime Show.” It was headlined by\u00a0Kid Rock<\/a>, Brantley Gilbert, Lee Brice, and Gabby Barrett.<\/p>\n\n

Trump took to\u00a0Truth Social<\/a>\u00a0Sunday night\u00a0to share his opinions on Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime show, calling it “an affront” to the country.<\/a><\/p>\n\n

“The Super Bowl Halftime Show is absolutely terrible, one of the worst, EVER! It makes no sense, is an affront to the Greatness of America, and doesn’t represent our standards of Success, Creativity, or Excellence,” Trump wrote Sunday, Feb. 8.<\/p>\n

Trump also seemingly took aim at Bad Bunny, who performed primarily in Spanish, saying: “Nobody understands a word this guy is saying, and the dancing is disgusting, especially for young children that are watching from throughout the U.S.A., and all over the World.”<\/p>\n\n

He added: “This ‘Show’ is just a ‘slap in the face’ to our Country.”<\/p>\n

USA TODAY recapped the performance, reporting that Bad Bunny said “God Bless America” towards the end of his performance and then named every country in North, South and\u00a0Latin America<\/a>, including the United States and Canada.<\/p>\n

Behind the performance was a large billboard that read, “The only thing more powerful than hate is love.”<\/p>\n

The musician mostly laughed off the backlash. In an October appearance on “Saturday Night Live,” the singer joked that he thinks “everybody’s happy about (him performing). Even Fox News.”<\/p>\n

Ahead of his performance, he clapped back at critics who complained about him singing almost exclusively in Spanish. In an\u00a0interview with Apple Music Radio<\/a>\u00a0hosts Ebro Darden and Zane Lowe on Feb. 5, he assured viewers that they don’t need to learn Spanish to enjoy his set.<\/p>\n\n

“It’s gonna be fun, it’s gonna be easy,” Bad Bunny, 31, said. “People only have to worry about dance. … They don’t even have to learn Spanish. It’s better if they learn to dance. There’s no better dance than the one that can come from the heart… that’s the only thing they need to worry about, to have fun and enjoy, and of course, choose your team at the game.”<\/p>\n
