Former \u201cReal Housewives of New York\u201d star Jill Zarin has been fired from an upcoming reunion series following a racist video rant on social media about Bad Bunny\u2019s halftime performance at Super Bowl LX. <\/p>\n
E!\u2019s \u201cThe Golden Life\u201d will no longer feature Zarin among its cast of housewives, series producer Blink49 Studios announced in a statement<\/a> on Tuesday. The series was set to begin filming in the spring and follow Zarin and fellow housewives Kelly Bensimon, Luann de Lesseps, Ramona Singer and Sonja Morgan in South Florida, according to Deadline<\/a>. The studio cited her \u201crecent public comments\u201d and said it remained \u201ccommitted to delivering the series in line with our company standards and values.\u201d Variety broke the news.<\/p>\n A representative for Zarin, who appeared on \u201cRHONY\u201d from 2008 to 2011, did not immediately respond to a request for comment. But the reality TV star defended herself in a statement<\/a> to InTouch. Producers \u201cdidn\u2019t even give me a chance,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n \u201cI took it down right away,\u201d she said of her video. \u201cPeople make mistakes. I\u2019m human.\u201d<\/p>\n Following Grammy winner Bad Bunny\u2019s Spanish-language Super Bowl spectacle on Sunday<\/a>, Zarin took her thoughts to Instagram. Clearly, the historic performance<\/a> \u2014 one that attempted to illuminate and celebrate the Latin community, people and their past \u2014 left her feeling triggered. <\/p>\n \u201cIt was the worst halftime show ever,\u201d she said in an Instagram rant that has been deleted but was much circulated<\/a> on social media. In the video, Zarin observed that Sunday\u2019s game celebrated 250 years since the founding of the United States of America and that she \u201cdidn\u2019t think it was appropriate to have it in Spanish.\u201d<\/p>\n Zarin decried Bad Bunny\u2019s \u201cinappropriate\u201d dance moves, claiming he was grabbing his groin \u201cevery five seconds.\u201d She clarified she doesn\u2019t speak Spanish and said she would have preferred to understand Bad Bunny\u2019s lyrics. She then took issue with the look of the performance. <\/p>\n \u201cTo me it looked like a political statement because there were literally no white people in the entire thing,\u201d she added. Perhaps she looked away from the screen when Lady Gaga delivered a salsa-fied take of her song \u201cDie With a Smile\u201d? Or when influencer Alix Earle was partying it up on the field with Cardi B, Pedro Pascal and Karol G.<\/p>\n \u201cI think it was an ICE thing and I just think the NFL sold out,\u201d she doubled down, \u201cand it\u2019s very sad.\u201d Bad Bunny notably called out the federal immigration enforcement branch at the 68th Grammy Awards<\/a> a week prior as he accepted the prize for album of the year. <\/p>\n Zarin concluded her video by commenting on Lady Gaga\u2019s appearance, claiming the pop star had gotten a facelift and that she needed Google to help identify her. \u201cThat was kinda fun in the middle of halftime, at least it gave me something to do \u2019cause it was so hard to watch,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n Maybe Kid Rock\u2019s pretaped Turning Point USA counterprogramming<\/a> would have been a better fit.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
