Meghan McCain <\/a>sparked backlash from her fellow conservatives for praising Bad Bunny\u2019s <\/span>performance<\/span><\/a> at the Super Bowl halftime show on Sunday.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

McCain\u2019s remarks come as a break from other <\/span>conservatives<\/span><\/a> who were <\/span>outraged<\/span><\/a> by the Latin artist, born Benito Antonio Marti\u0301nez Ocasio, singing entirely in Spanish. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

President Donald Trump called<\/a> Bad Bunny\u2019s performance a \u201c\u2018slap in the face\u2019 to<\/span> our Country,\u201d and Rep. Andy Ogles (R-Tenn.) claimed it depicted \u201cgay pornography,\u201d going as far as to request the Energy and Commerce Committee to <\/span>launch a formal inquiry<\/span><\/a> into the NFL and NBC. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Right-wing pages on X bashed McCain\u2019s defense of the performance, some making comments about her body and others criticizing the dance. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cThe fact that the NFL chose Bad Bunny made it political,\u201d one comment with over a thousand likes read. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cHe ruined it with politics to start with.. also I\u2019m pretty sure the majority of Americans watch football in English. The halftime show should reflect that\u2026\u201d another X user\u2019s comment with hundreds of likes read.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cA cross dresser who mumbles in Spanish is better taste than what they did at the TPUSA halftime show? You\u2019re not serious,\u201d another comment read. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Despite the all the backlash<\/a>, Bad Bunny\u2019s show was well received<\/a> by many others online who appreciated the music, accompanied by scenes that paid tribute to Puerto Rican culture and displayed messages like \u201cThe only thing more powerful than hate is love.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
