The FBI released an array of surveillance photos and videos that were recovered from the home of Nancy Guthrie.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The series of photos and videos show a masked individual who has been deemed a potential suspect. FBI<\/a> Director Kash Patel said on social media that the masked person was “armed” and appeared “to have tampered with the camera at Nancy Guthrie’s front door the morning of her disappearance.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In Patel’s statement on X formerly Twitter, he said that the FBI and the sheriff’s department have been working closely with their “private sector partners” to continue recovering any images or video footage from Nancy’s home “that may have been lost, corrupted, or inaccessible.” He added that the latest video was recovered “from residual data located in backend systems.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

A former SWAT commander and police captain, Josh Schirard, spoke with celebrity.land<\/a> about the footage, specifically about the potential suspect’s “universal nylon style holster.” Schirard remarked that the holster is not one someone who commonly carries a firearm would utilize.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

“This seems more like a very cheap, off-the-shelf holster that somebody just stores their gun in. And it just happens to have a belt loop on the back of it that they thought that they could throw on,” he told the outlet.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The former police chief also inquired about the manner and placement of the gun.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cWas it out of convenience? Obviously, the intent wasn\u2019t to conceal it. So was the intent to make sure it was displayed in order to be threatening when he went into that house? Or to be quickly accessed when he went into that house? Or in case anyone came across him?\u201d Schirard said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The Guthrie family, which includes TODAY show anchor Savannah Guthrie, was first notified about the newly released images and videos. However, neither the family nor law enforcement recognized the person in the surveillance footage.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

As a result, the FBI decided to publicly post the images and videos, hoping that someone might recognize the subject, their clothing, or the items seen in the footage, per NBC.<\/a> If so, it could lead to a breakthrough in the case.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Nancy was last seen on January 31st and was reported missing on February 1.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
