Kevin Morby<\/a> has announced a new album. Little Wide Open<\/em><\/a> is produced by the National\u2019s Aaron Dessner<\/a> and features contributions from\u2014among others\u2014Justin Vernon, Muna\u2019s Katie Gavin, Sylvan Esso\u2019s Amelia Meath, and Lucinda Williams. It\u2019s out May 15 on Dead Oceans. The music video for lead single \u201cJavelin\u201d stars Morby and comedian Caleb Hearon. Waxahatchee\u2019s Katie Crutchfield also makes a cameo. \u201cThis is a song I wrote about being in love with someone you keep circling around the globe, relentlessly traveling through the air and down highways, and then returning home alone to middle America,\u201d Morby said of \u201cJavelin\u201d in a press statement. \u201c[Amelia] shines here, with her incredible vocals. I had invited her into the studio and asked that she create a backing choir out of just her voice\u2014but her presence is so special that her \u2018backing vocals\u2019 can\u2019t help but take the lead.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rachel Kushner wrote an essay, titled Field Guide to the North American Troubadour<\/em><\/a>, to accompany Little Wide Open<\/em>.
