Gene Simmons<\/a> is giving props to Taylor Swift<\/a>, whose huge, devoted fanbase reminds the KISS<\/a> bassist of Beatlemania.<\/p>\n While guesting on a recent episode of the LegendsNLeaders podcast, Simmons spoke about how powerful it is as a musician to see fans connect with your music in real time \u2014 something he says is more validating of an artist\u2019s dominance than anything else. \u201cThe only analogy I can point to is the Swifties of today,\u201d the rocker said.<\/p>\n More from Billboard<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cYes, the songs are cool, and [Taylor\u2019s] wonderful, we know her, but it\u2019s more than that,\u201d he continued. \u201cIt\u2019s almost a gathering of the tribes \u2026 The Beatles had that. It was called Beatlemania. It\u2019s almost cultish. You\u2019re a member of that, and there\u2019s a connection.\u201d<\/p>\n Simmons also shouted out the time in 2009 when a young Swift and her band pranked Keith Urban \u2014 for whom she served as an opener on one of his tours, long before she was selling out stadiums on her own historic Eras Trek \u2014 by dressing up as KISS and crashing the stage while the Australian country star was playing. Swifties may remember how the 14-time Grammy winner vlogged the experience,<\/a> filming the process of getting all dressed up and capturing Urban\u2019s reaction.<\/p>\n \u201cPut in \u2018Taylor Swift KISS band makeup\u2019 [in the search bar], and you\u2019ll see Taylor and the whole band come out in KISS makeup and do that thing,\u201d Simmons said proudly.<\/p>\n The rock icon is far from the only living music legend who\u2019s noticed that Swift\u2019s influence on this generation of music fans is next to none. Ringo Starr himself has also said <\/a>that the hype surrounding her is the closest thing to Beatlemania he\u2019s seen since experiencing it for himself as part of the Beatles.<\/p>\n Elsewhere in the podcast interview, Simmons reiterated his thoughts that hip-hop doesn\u2019t \u201cbelong\u201d<\/a> in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. \u201cThe fact that, for instance, Iron Maiden is not in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame when they can sell out stadiums, and Grandmaster Flash is,\u201d he said on the show. \u201cIt\u2019s not my music.
