On Wednesday morning, news broke about James Van Der Beek\u2019s sad passing at 48 after a battle with colorectal cancer.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

After his wife Kimberly confirmed his death, Stacy Kiebler took to Instagram<\/a> to remember the actor.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

Stacy reminisced about their final moments together over the past few days.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

Along with posting a pic of herself looking up at a frail James, who is seen sitting in a wheelchair, she wrote, \u201cSpending these final days with you has been a true gift from God.\u2028I have never been so present in my life.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

She went on, \u201cWhen you know time is sacred, you don\u2019t waste a single breath. You don\u2019t rush. You don\u2019t scroll. You don\u2019t worry about tomorrow. You sit. You listen. You hold hands. You watch the sky change colors and you let it change you too. In these past days, you taught me more about being present than any book ever could. You showed me what it looks like to trust God\u2019s plan, even when it breaks your heart. Especially when it breaks your heart.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

Reflecting on the \u201cother night we watched the sunset together,\u201d Stacy wrote, \u201cYou shared your wisdom, your hopes, and the promises we made to each other. We talked about how this world can feel upside down\u2026and how maybe heaven needs your spirit now to help steady us down here. And just as the sun slipped away, a shooting star crossed the sky\u2026as if to remind us that none of this is random.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

Calling James a \u201cgift\u201d and an \u201cincredible husband,\u201d Keibler praised Van Der Beek for showing up for Kimberly and their six kids.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

Describing it as \u201cblessing to witness,\u201d she wrote, \u201cIt has been an honor to stand beside your family in these sacred moments.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

While James has physically left the world, Stacy stressed, \u201cI know your spirit is doing big things. I feel it already.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

Stacy told her followers she will be feeling James\u2019 presence, writing, \u201cI will think of you every time I watch a sunset. Every time I see a rainbow stretch across the sky. I\u2019ll know you\u2019re there.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

As for his death, Stacy stressed that it sends the following message: \u201cThe present moment is everything.\u2028Love the people in front of you.\u2028Say the words.\u2028Watch the sunset.\u2028Trust God, even when you don\u2019t understand. Thank you for changing me.\u2028I will carry you with me. Always\u00a0\ud83e\udd0d.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

James posted his final Instagram<\/a> on January 25.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

At the time, Van Der Beek shared a photo of himself hugging his 12-year-old daughter Annabel.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

In honor of her birthday, he wrote on Instagram, \u201cMy father and my daughter share a birthday today. At first, I thought that was all they shared \u2014 they seemed so different to me. But as the two of you have evolved, and let more of who you are shine through, I can recognize the same open, warm, loving, gentle heart.”<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

\u201cI see the care and dedication you shower upon those you love most. I see the same out-of-the-box Aquarian creativity and originality. And you both make every room you\u2019re in more fun. Different senes of humor, but you both have a way of alchemizing the vibe around you in such a subtle way one can almost miss how powerfully you do this,\u201d Van Der Beek continued. \u201cIn this crazy world, it\u2019s a wonder to me that you\u2019ve managed to stay so open, so tender, and so genuinely good.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

In another Instagram video<\/a> from last month, James opened up about his plans to \u201crecover and rest\u201d before spring arrived.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

He told his followers, \u201cAnyone else out there finding that your New Year\u2019s resolution was impossible to keep? I\u2019m going to say something: I don\u2019t think it\u2019s your fault. Why are we celebrating a new year in the dead of winter? Why are we celebrating new beginnings at a time when nature rests? I\u2019m going to take winter to recover, to rest, and I\u2019m going to make New Year\u2019s resolutions in the spring. Who\u2019s with me?\u201d<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

In December, James discussed his health during an interview with \u201cToday\u2019s\u201d Craig Melvin.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

He said, \u201cI feel much, much better than I did a couple months ago.”<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

He went on, \u201cIt\u2019s been a longer journey than I ever thought it would be. It\u2019s required more of me \u2014 more patience, more discipline, more strength than I knew I had. I knew I was strong. I didn\u2019t know I was this strong. But I feel good.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

As for treatment, James said he was \u201ctrying a bunch of stuff\u201d but declined to share specifics.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

Van Der Beek noted that it was due to a stomach virus, adding, \u201cNo, it was not cancer-related. Although with cancer, everything\u2019s like, \u2018Why don\u2019t we super-size that stomach virus?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

He admitted, \u201cAs crushed as I was not being able to go to that \u2018Dawson\u2019s Creek\u2019 reunion, my family got to go. And I was Zooming in on that night, and they got a standing ovation just for taking their seats. And all that love that would have otherwise been directed at me was directed at my family. It was just one of the most beautiful moments I\u2019ve ever gotten to witness. I\u2019m just so grateful to the fans for doing that.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

The \u201cDawson\u2019s\u201d cast reunited at Richard Rodgers Theatre in NYC for a reading of the show\u2019s first episode to raise cash for F Cancer in light of Van Der Beek\u2019s stage 3 colorectal cancer diagnosis.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

The star was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer in 2023 at age 46 after requesting a colonoscopy.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n
