The program features George Gershwin\u2019s \u201cThree Preludes,\u201d presented in an adaptation by Furman student Thomas Witt that brings Gershwin\u2019s unmistakable blend of jazz and classical style to the orchestral stage.<\/p>\nThe concert also showcases the 2025\u20132026 Concerto Competition winners in two featured solo performances: Caroline James, flute, appears in Gordon Jacob\u2019s \u201cConcerto for Flute and Strings,\u201d a work prized for its lyricism and clarity, while Rebecca Wirth, saxophone, performs Jacques Ibert\u2019s \u201cConcertino da Camera,\u201d a virtuosic and colorful highlight of the saxophone repertoire.<\/p>\n
