{"id":2278552,"date":"2026-02-12T06:48:50","date_gmt":"2026-02-12T06:48:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/celebrity.land\/en\/?p=2278552"},"modified":"2026-02-12T06:48:50","modified_gmt":"2026-02-12T06:48:50","slug":"royals-kris-bubic-wins-arbitration-case-eric-lauer-loses","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/celebrity.land\/en\/royals-kris-bubic-wins-arbitration-case-eric-lauer-loses\/","title":{"rendered":"Royals&#8217; Kris Bubic wins arbitration case; Eric Lauer loses"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"article-meta\"><span class=\"timestamp \">Feb 11, 2026, 04:30 PM ET<\/span><\/div>\n<p>SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. &#8212; <a target=\"_blank\" data-player-guid=\"115397d1-d7cb-90d6-43dd-36f2df479e17\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/41201\/kris-bubic\">Kris Bubic<\/a> won his salary arbitration case against the <a target=\"_blank\" data-clubhouse-guid=\"11a5df00-0945-35a5-66fe-a3a107975558\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/team\/_\/name\/kc\/kansas-city-royals\">Kansas City Royals<\/a> on Wednesday and fellow left-hander <a target=\"_blank\" data-player-guid=\"9d090720-1ef7-2944-5800-0dd5077da94a\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/39915\/eric-lauer\">Eric Lauer<\/a> lost his hearing to the <a target=\"_blank\" data-clubhouse-guid=\"0151aed9-9f11-ceae-195d-180ca603b64a\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/team\/_\/name\/tor\/toronto-blue-jays\">Toronto Blue Jays<\/a>, leaving players ahead 8-3 with two cases remaining.<\/p>\n<p>Instead of getting the Royals&#8217; offer of $5.15 million, Bubic was awarded $6.15 million by Margaret Brogan, Brian Keller and Janice Johnston, who heard arguments Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Lauer will earn $4.4 million instead of his $5.75 million request. His hearing was held on Feb. 3 before Scott Buchheit, Howard Edelman and John Woods, and the decision was kept sealed until Bubic&#8217;s case was decided.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"inline editorial float-r\" data-behavior=\"article_related\">\n<h2 class=\"editorial-title\">Editor&#8217;s Picks<\/h2>\n<p>2 Related<\/p>\n<\/aside>\n<p>Bubic, 28, was 8-7 with a 2.55 ERA in 20 starts last year, setting career bests for wins and ERA. He didn&#8217;t pitch after July 26 because of a strained left rotator cuff.<\/p>\n<p>Bubic had a $3 million salary last year and can become a free agent after this year&#8217;s World Series. He is 19-36 with a 4.14 ERA in six major league seasons, all with the Royals.<\/p>\n<p>Lauer was 9-2 with a 3.18 ERA in 15 starts and 13 relief appearances last year, striking out 102 and walking 26 in 104 2\/3 innings. He spent much of 2024 with <a target=\"_blank\" data-clubhouse-guid=\"00a3015f-09ec-1b03-52af-656f5e0a18d5\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/team\/_\/name\/hou\/houston-astros\">Houston<\/a>&#8216;s Triple-A Sugar Land team, then signed that August with South Korea&#8217;s Kia Tigers.<\/p>\n<p>Lauer, 30, is 45-39 with a 4.13 ERA over seven seasons with <a target=\"_blank\" data-clubhouse-guid=\"4dec648c-3eb9-055c-aebc-2711f30975a0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/team\/_\/name\/sd\/san-diego-padres\">San Diego<\/a> (2018-19), <a target=\"_blank\" data-clubhouse-guid=\"4750d73d-d92e-b390-758c-2c7b44a810db\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/team\/_\/name\/mil\/milwaukee-brewers\">Milwaukee<\/a> (2020-23) and Toronto.
