Rehab Addict<\/em><\/a> star Nicole Curtis<\/a> is facing backlash after a video emerged of her using a racial slur during filming of the HGTV series.<\/p>\n

RadarOnline<\/em><\/a> first shared the video on Wednesday (February 11), the same day the show was set to return for the remainder of its ninth season. Following the video\u2019s release, HGTV severed ties with Curtis, canceling her show and removing it from its network and streaming platforms.<\/p>\n

In the video, Curtis was having an issue with some wiring during one of her renovation projects. While struggling with the wires, she blurted out the N-word, saying, \u201cWhy? It\u2019s the last one. Oh, fart n*****.\u201d<\/p>\n

Curtis immediately realized the gravity of what she\u2019d said, saying, \u201cWhat the f*** is that I just said?\u201d She then called for someone off camera to \u201ckill that\u201d before mumbling, \u201cF*** my life.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a statement to People<\/em><\/a>, HGTV said it was \u201crecently made aware of an offensive racial comment made during the filming of\u00a0Rehab Addict<\/em>.\u00a0Not only is language like this hurtful and disappointing to our viewers, partners, and employees \u2013 it does not align with the values of HGTV.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAccordingly, we have removed the series from all HGTV platforms. We remain dedicated to fostering a culture of respect and inclusion across our content and our workplace,\u201d the statement added.<\/p>\n

Curtis apologized for her remarks in a statement to TMZ<\/em><\/a>, writing, \u201cI want to be clear: the word in question is wrong and not part of my vocabulary and never has been, and I apologize to everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n

Speaking on her relationship with HGTV, the DIY expert said, \u201cI\u2019m grateful for the 15-year journey we\u2019ve shared. It\u2019s been a meaningful chapter, but my focus isn\u2019t on my career. My focus, at this moment is rightfully on my relationships, and my community \u2014 the people who truly know my character and where my heart is.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite the apology, fans haven\u2019t been so quick to let Curtis off the hook. She has even been sharing some of the scathing messages that she\u2019s received on her Instagram Stories.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cGood, now you will have more time to be a mom. A racist mom nonetheless,\u201d one message read.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf it\u2019s not part of your vocabulary, why did you say it? Lying racist b****,\u201d wrote another.<\/p>\n

One Reddit user wrote, \u201cShe said it so casually. As casually as most people would say \u201coh s**t\u201d or \u201cdamn\u201d when making a mistake.That\u2019s definitely a regular phrase in her vocabulary. This was NOT a one time slip up.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cJust rolls off her tongue like it\u2019s common language in her house, then she realizes that she fucked up and asks \u201cto kill that\u201d (delete the footage),\u201d said another.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe says it like it\u2019s some cute thing she always says when she\u2019s mad. Racism so ingrained it doesn\u2019t even register in her brain,\u201d one commenter stated.<\/p>\n

Another added, \u201cIf it isnt in your vocabulary how do you casually blurt it out while talking about Farts in the same sentence?????????????\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cCareers ruined just because of dumb racism and ignorance. Not excusable at all,\u201d wrote another.<\/p>\n

Curtis had been hosting Rehab Addict<\/em> since 2010. The show returned for Season 9 in June 2025, but aired only two episodes before Curtis put it on hiatus due to \u201ca setback in my life that just rocked me to the core.\u201d The remaining episodes were scheduled to start airing on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
