Fox News host Greg Gutfeld on Wednesday proposed a strategy to advance the investigation into the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, suggesting that NBC\u2019s Savannah Guthrie, the victim\u2019s daughter-in-law, voluntarily submit to a polygraph test.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
The suggestion aired during a segment of Fox<\/a> News’ The Five, where Gutfeld<\/a> discussed the idea with legal analyst Paul Mauro.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n “So, Paul, I want to revisit my strategy to solving this case, and that would be having the least likely suspect, Savannah Guthrie, offer to do a polygraph, which will then put necessary pressure on others inside and outside the circle to do the same,” Gutfeld said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n “Since no one has been ruled out, it\u2019s one step forward in ruling in, and anybody who says no or bristles looks unusual. What do you say to that?”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Mauro responded by noting that polygraphs are typically inadmissible in court but may help guide investigations.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n “My understanding as of now is that they haven\u2019t done anything relative to a polygraph,” Mauro said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n “I\u2019m not sure we would have necessarily heard, but I think we would with the way things have been going out here. And as we all know, it\u2019s not admissible in court but it can be a pointer… I get that. You\u2019re trying to smoke people out that might be close to the situation.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Nancy Guthrie, 84, disappeared on the night of January 31 after having dinner with her daughter, Annie Guthrie, and Annie\u2019s husband, Tommaso Cioni.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Earlier this week, investigators released footage showing a masked, possibly armed individual approaching Guthrie\u2019s front door.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n The FBI confirmed a black glove was discovered Wednesday, about 1.5 miles from her Tucson-area home.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Gutfeld previously raised the polygraph idea during Monday\u2019s broadcast, saying, “Have they given everyone polygraphs? I don\u2019t believe they have.
