As the legal proceedings continue, fresh claims about financial assistance from members of the film industry have sparked a public exchange on social media.<\/p>\n The controversy intensified after actor and self-proclaimed critic Kamaal R. Khan stated that Yadav\u2019s family has not received any monetary support from film personalities, contrary to earlier reports. Taking to his official X handle on Friday, February 13, he wrote, \u201cBrother of #RajpalYadav said that they haven\u2019t got any money from anybody till now. All the ppl are just giving News of helping Rajpal for publicity.”<\/p>\n Khan further claimed that Yadav\u2019s brother is relying on assistance from Sonu Sood and is hopeful of receiving Rs 1\u20132 crore. \u201cLet\u2019s see if Sonu Bhai will give them funds,” wrote KRK.<\/p>\n Earlier, reports suggested that several actors had stepped forward to offer support after Yadav surrendered. According to his manager, celebrities including Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn, Gurmeet Choudhary, Mika Singh and Varun Dhawan had extended financial support. KRK had also publicly offered Rs 10 lakh to help the actor.<\/p>\n In an interview with Screen, Yadav\u2019s manager Goldie spoke about the response from the industry. \u201cA lot of people have reached out to help Rajpal Yadav. Actors like Sonu Sood, Salman Khan and Ajay Devgn have extended their support. I was just on a call with David Dhawan\u2026 he too reached out. Ratan Jain, Varun Dhawan\u2026 many people are coming forward to help him this time, which Rajpal has deeply appreciated,” Goldie said.<\/p>\n The manager did not clarify whether Yadav had sought financial assistance before surrendering but indicated that support increased as the situation became more serious.<\/p>\n The legal case dates back to 2010, when Yadav borrowed Rs 5 crore from Delhi-based Murali Projects Pvt Ltd to finance his directorial debut, Ata Pata Laapata (2012). The film did not perform well at the box office, leaving him unable to repay the loan.<\/p>\n In April 2018, a magistrate\u2019s court convicted Yadav and his wife, Radha Yadav, under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act after seven cheques issued by them were dishonoured. He was sentenced to six months\u2019 simple imprisonment.<\/p>\n In June 2024, the Delhi High Court suspended the sentence and directed Yadav to show \u201cgenuine” intent to clear the dues, which had increased to nearly Rs 9 crore. By October 2025, he had deposited Rs 75 lakh. The court, however, observed that a substantial amount remained unpaid.<\/p>\n In February 2025, Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma ordered Yadav to surrender.
