Whether wired or wireless, (I tend to plug my phone in directly via USB-C) you&#8217;ll generally get a sample rate of around 16-bit\/48 kHz, a little lower than <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.whathifi.com\/tag\/qobuz\" data-auto-tag-linker=\"true\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.whathifi.com\/tag\/qobuz\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.whathifi.com\/tag\/qobuz\">Qobuz<\/a>&#8216;s 24-bit\/192kHz maximum.<\/p>\n<aside data-component-name=\"Recirculation:ArticleRiver\" data-recirculation-type=\"inline\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"Trending Bar\" data-nosnippet=\"\" class=\"clear-both pt-3 pb-4 mb-4 border-solid border-y border-neutral-300\">\n<span class=\"font-article-heading block pb-3 !text-base font-bold uppercase sm:text-sm text-[#333]\"><br \/>\nYou may like<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<\/aside>\n<p class=\"paywall\" aria-hidden=\"true\">If <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.whathifi.com\/spotify\/review\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.whathifi.com\/spotify\/review\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.whathifi.com\/spotify\/review\">Spotify <\/a>has been the gold standard for on-the-go enjoyment from your iPhone to your car (if you take audio quality out of the equation), hi-res service Qobuz has always lagged seriously behind.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paywall\" aria-hidden=\"true\">Using Qobuz in your car felt practically medieval, with limited functionalities and poor user control seeing the experience lag well behind the likes of <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.whathifi.com\/tag\/spotify\" data-auto-tag-linker=\"true\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.whathifi.com\/tag\/spotify\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.whathifi.com\/tag\/spotify\">Spotify<\/a> or <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.whathifi.com\/tidal\/review\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.whathifi.com\/tidal\/review\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.whathifi.com\/tidal\/review\">Tidal<\/a>. It was, to be frank, a long way off the finished article.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paywall\" aria-hidden=\"true\">A recent update, however, has rectified so many of those issues. Now, you&#8217;re able to delve deep into playlists, explore by genre, ask Siri to play audio and access shuffle play, while the whole arrangement and layout now feels far more intuitive and easy to navigate. It&#8217;s a far smoother, cleaner experience, and a far cry from the clunky, sparse ordeal of those bad old days.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paywall\" aria-hidden=\"true\">Accessing specific tracks is far easier, too. Whereas before, clicking on a playlist would just automatically play the whole roster of songs (<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.whathifi.com\/tidal\/review\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.whathifi.com\/tidal\/review\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.whathifi.com\/tidal\/review\">Tidal <\/a>still does this), pressing on a chosen list brings up the entire catalogue of tunes from which you can make your selection.<\/p>\n<div id=\"slice-container-newsletterForm-articleInbodyContent-qUeoQKoMNRZ7W8SgZhwKpR\" class=\"slice-container newsletter-inbodyContent-slice newsletterForm-articleInbodyContent-qUeoQKoMNRZ7W8SgZhwKpR slice-container-newsletterForm\">\n<div data-hydrate=\"true\" class=\"newsletter-form__wrapper newsletter-form__wrapper--inbodyContent\">\n<div class=\"newsletter-form__container\">\n<section class=\"newsletter-form__top-bar\"\/>\n<section class=\"newsletter-form__main-section\">\n<p class=\"newsletter-form__strapline\">The latest hi-fi, home cinema and tech news, reviews, buying advice and deals, direct to your inbox.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"paywall\" aria-hidden=\"true\">Fancy features such as curated playlists are also on the menu, with the whole suite of features feeling so much fuller and more personalised than before.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paywall\" aria-hidden=\"true\">It&#8217;s not yet perfect.
